*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

So I had vanilla destiny with the two expansions although never played past level ten.

I've recently just gotten TTK and have a couple of questions.

Where do I get the year 1 VIP rewards? Do I need to be a certain level for the quest to pop?

If I use the level 25 boost its it still possible to revisit the old quests? Is it recommended I play through the first 25 normally before boosting or should I just boost and get going as I won't miss much?

I had the frontier shell on my old character but if I create a new one I don't receive it from the post master? Is this only designed to be given to one if your characters?

I think you only got the Year 1 rewards if you had a character at level 30+, could be mistaken though.

Yes, you will be able to play all the missions and quests. The spark of light just gives you instant 25 plus a set of gear so you can go into the taken king stuff right away if you wanted.

It used to be at the special orders lady in the tower, but she's been removed now. There was a kiosk to replace her but I can't find that now since taken king.

not done the new raid yet, will it be do-able with a group from lfg? I have two quest lines that both need me to do kings fall so need to start trying to get a group together. 294 light now.

It will be doable, but probably better using the raid group thread on here.

Yeah year one rewards you had to have a character lvl 30+ by a certain cut off date.

You guys sure? Reading TTK FAQ on bungie's site it says

It does say purchase and play TTK. Have you started the content yet? Use the spark then start the new story. I'm guessing but might be worth a shot.

I never got any of that stuff and I meet all thw criteria.

Anywho, has anyone completed all the quests yet? I'm trying to nail them all but there are just so many it's nuts!

I read somewhere that in total there are 85 quests in the game itself. I've still got a couple to do but they are raid related and one where I have to go into the crucible and get 25 kills from my sword...joy of joy that will be lol.

Anyhow just got myself an exotic handgun, ace of spades from banshee for dismantling rare and exotic hand guns. Seems like this is similar to the fatebringer but no elemental damage on it. So now I've got 2 exotic handguns, the hawkmoon and ace of spades. The perks on both are pretty good, ace of spades has the firefly perk on it so looking forward to seeing some heads explode :D.

I'm nearly done.

I've only got 6 left, three of those i'll complete today. The rest are crucible stuff.

I'm just booting it up now, I don't want to redeem the 3 expansion code just yet incase I don't get on with it but I presume vanilla Destiny will give me a good enough taste to decide if I like it enough to carry on.

Edit: 17gb update file, lovely.

Any chance I could get someone who poops out Orbs to come with me on a Strike? Need to get 3 Golden Gun kills on Majors, and 15 total kills with the Golden Gun.

It's fifteen kills total, the quest is bugged, all you need worry about is the Major kills.

A few questions I'd appreciate answers on:

1: Is the only way to get help on missions to invite friends? I don't see any other way so I'm trying to do story quests solo which is tricky for me.
2: How come when I start a mission I can sometimes see other players there? I thought it was instanced to you. Can they steal stuff I could get?
3: does it pay to explore the maps, are loot caches in set places or can they be in random places this encouraging exploration.
4: random level 40 on my map, says he's generating orbs of light. What's that?

1. You should be able to solo all the missions. The only way to have someone help is to invite them to your fireteam.

2. Missions are instanced, some parts are shared instances with other people in them, makes no difference to you.

3. The only place that is really worth exploring is the dreadnaught, which has a bunch of different stuff to find.

4. Orbs of light you can pick up to boost your super. Usually you generarate orbs by killing enemies with your super.

Just got my first good exotic drop, Zhalo supercell! Ive not really used auto rifles really, mainly been using scouts but am liking this! Am i right in thinking no class is better with any type of weapon? Just down to what you prefer using?

It's mostly preference, I love auto rifles but they are best suited to taking out mid/low level enemies. The Zhalo is nice because it also has arc damage and can shock nearby enemies as well as a cool perk that gives you ammo back for quick multi kills. That last perk means you can take down a large mob without reloading if you are accurate enough.

For bosses you'd probably want to have a special or heavy exotic instead as you want maximum damage which isn't a strength of auto rifles.

TLDR - yes it's 90% personal preference :)

So been doing a patrol on my own. Don't really get it, get random objectives, sometimes a skill level enemy appears and I got some token for doing a bit of damage to it and others got purple weapons etc.
Do you just keep going to get drops and experience?
Just came across an enemy called space of the heart and couldn't even damage it.

The idea behind patrol mode is to do patrol mode missions. These usually revolve around just wandering about and killing stuff. Sometimes you'll get told to go somewhere and scan something, others kill one big enemy, others kill stuff and pick up what they drop etc.. When you do patrol mode you will come across stuff thats too high level for you and show immune when you shoot them. Just try and avoid these until you're higher light level. These enemies will just have a ? above their heads because you can't damage them and show up in black and red.

Each one of these missions gets you experience and reputation. They are quite a low source of these, and are good when combined with the bounties you get from the robot in the tower. Its basically just a mode for you to wander around and do what you want without being tied to the story.

The main grip of the game is the story, and leveling your character and collecting gear. Theres a lot of replaying existing content to get better items.
