Forum "Disputes"

How do people become mods  is it like a job that they interview for or are they the special chosen ones coz they are witty and intelligent and charismatic?
Do they get paid? Do they work from home or do they have posh offices? Do they wear a suit? :)

They work often in the nude, and they are paid with the contents of whatever the webcams of people browsing the forums picked up.

in order:

No specific entry criteria
no interview process
I lack any wit, intelligence or charisma; so no they aren't specific requirements!

I work from home
my home office is quite nice (i think)
I do own a few suits but rarely ever wear them

*both of them are lies, but a guy can dream

Oh oh but he said something in a disparaging tone sir! :(

Yeah...pretty sure the mods are busy enough without having to be defenders of the just and the chaste because someone might hurt their feelings.

Although saying that I got a holiday for saying someone was acting stupidly...so I guess we already have that

See the thing is I agree with you, not everything should be reported just for being silly or remotely offensive in some manner, however:

. Your beliefs may differ from those that others hold but we do ask that you show them some tolerance and do not post deliberately disrespectful or inflammatory comments about other peoples beliefs. The issue of beliefs is a sensitive one for many people and this does not mean that there can be no criticism of religion but do think about how you present your arguments.

We have a thread now where this is posted literally in its entirety on every page of that thread. That quote is directly from the FAQ/GD rules and yet theres been two or three mods/bosses/ et al commenting in that thread on and off and nothing gets done about it.

How is RTM a genuine comback when that happens? Albeit its only usually the same posters but it isnt just me that feels that way and other people have been more vocal than me about it.

before becoming a demi god I used to RTM anything which annoyed me, sometimes things got moderated, sometimes they didnt, but the moral of that boring story is to always RTM, it definitely helps us :)

Fair enough, however when I see mods/dons reading and commenting (not in the same manner) as other posters it is definitely discouraging me from using the RTM button, not after a ban for voicing a personal and less extreme point of view

As i was expelled from school and college I was definitely not one of those annoying prefect types, I guess it takes all sorts, a nice broad spectrum of personalities helps keep everything on a reasonably level keel

Expelled from both?

What did you even do

What did you even do

Nothing mental, racked up too many saturday detentions, fighting, grafitti and lock picking :p

at college I attended 5% of my lessons and spent the rest of the time gambling in a fruit machine shop

yes I was a grade A pillock

I estimate that dicking around at university and in no way applying myself delayed the start of any meaningful career by six years.

Stay in school kids

Can you make the dispute forum default to magenta comic sans to annoy anyone who spends half an hour writing an essay?

Apparently calling someone an "ignorant fool" is a personal attack. He said something that was very ignorant, hardly a "personal attack". I got suspended for that...

Although previously i did call someone "stupid and arrogant" which i deserved a suspension for. But i don't believe i deserved one for calling someone an "ignorant fool".

It seems somewhat obvious that it was the fool part, not the ignorant part.

Don't think it deserved a suspension though... I did question it to the Don in question at the time. A lot of people get away with saying some far worse things on here, inconsistency is what bothers me. It wouldn't bother me so much if everyone got suspended for saying something like that.
