*** The Official Destiny Thread (now includes 2.0 and TTK) ***

Nah I pre fired at a choke point on a map which was round a corner. You know black pantheon where the snipers usually are?

Threw a random hammer and got 2 kills.

It was obviously half intentional due to map knowledge but I was surprised it worked so well. I had no idea 2 people were coming but I saw red on the radar and just threw it.

It's actually funny. Despite how much better Sunbreaker is than Striker for PvP now, I actually play Striker on Pantheon a lot because of that exact spot you just mentioned. I just stick lightning grenades on the wall, I'm horrific at sniping so it's one of the ways I try to deal with them. Although it's not as fun without Armamentarium.

So I've just ordered my ps4 how is this for a new player getting into it? I'm unsure about raids etc as they seem incredibly stressful haha

Plenty to do solo and I'm just pootling along fine. I just saw I have an orb to make my character 25 but as I've never played before I want to see the content leading up to it first.
Is that one orb per character as I can imagine it's handy for secondary character.

I never got a second orb, so i'm guessing its per account.

As for this Hammer of Sol talk, I don't think removing the regen is a good idea as that will have a knockon effect in PvE as well. They could do a one or a combination of things. eg: remove the armour bonus to make it like golden gun, slow the hammer velocity, increase the charge drain from throwing a hammer or increase the rate at which the super drains(assuming PvE values remain unchanged for my last two points)

Kind of getting bored of Destiny now, the remaining quests I have to do are raid related and so far havent been able to find a group who are patient and want to take their time finishing it properly.
Problem i suppose for me is that the other weekend, I got invited by a bunch of randoms to do the raid, thinking ok well lets give it a go...only to get in at the bit before the warpriest..so up until then i hadnt even done the first part of the raid. Then last week got in with some guys from here and started it from the beginning, only to find myself completely and utterly bamboozled by it all lol.

For the past week or so, ive hit a wall so to speak in that i cant seem to get any higher than 296 light level and im getting quite fed up of the usual grinding, only for nothing half decent to drop. I guess its probably time i did the raid but finding the right group is a bit difficult.

So thats about it really, think ive just got a bit fed up of the game really...i felt like this before TTK dropped.

Try the100.io for groups. It's miles better than the LFG sites.

If you're not going to raid then there's little point getting your light over 290 so I wouldn't bother trying to grind it anyway.

Raids have always been the endgame of co-op games though. Unless you're into pvp then Trials will be your route to high light gear.

They have worded it carefully to avoid ruling out more items being available to buy in the future. I expect that won't be too far down the line. Unfortunately a lot of people associate microtransactions with a slippery slope. I can't see that being the case so much with Destiny (yet), but it is another moneygrab, which is understandable I suppose.

Games like planetside 2 do the microtransactions very well.

You can pay for emblems, shaders, emotes all you want. Heck you could even sell glimmer, marks, planetary materials etc.. for real world cash. The only person you're cheating in that respect is yourself.

I've long said that Destiny could easily support microtransactions like that to provide a source of income for them and make DLC free like rockstar do with the GTA Dollars.

I've not problem with cosmetic microtransactions...especially if they change the DLC pricing model. I guess they have looked at the number of people buying the emotes/shaders pack.

If they start charging for emblems and shaders I'll probably be a little annoyed, those are things I work hard to earn in-game.. the Titan striker and defender emblems in particular were a grind. Emotes on the other hand, no issue with that at all. Also as highlighted above... as long as Activision are involved I can't see them lowering the price of DLC no matter how well these cosmetic things sell.

That'd be one hell of a step if Activision replaced paid for DLC with micro-transactions. I expect these to sit side by side, merrily bringing in the money money moneeeeeeyy.

But yes, I do want the slow clap..

If it was your first time running the raid, don't worry that feeling is normal. The vast majority of destiny is quite simple in shoot enemies. Things like Prison of Elders or Court of Oryx adds some mechanics but Vault of Glass and Kings Fall raid are heavily mechanic based. Everyone in the raid has to understand the mechanic to get past an area however I would say it takes 2/3/4 runs through before people start being comfortable with the mechanics.

It is understandable why many people consider it a slippery slope, I am one of them. My worry with the introduction of microtransactions is, as has happened in other areas, they are a success and so get addedd to everything. Destiny is a grind, it is the nature of the game but how many people would pay to remove some of it? At the point it crosses over in to pay to win.
