Maybe it would have been a good idea to mention that in the OP so people don't waste time recommending stuff.
aw, don't cwy

maybe the fact my thread was purely asking between the two specific cards would have been enough of a hint?
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. Why have a go at people trying to help you out? Btw if you must have the 970 be aware that with a 390 beating overclock it will likely draw similar power.
i wasn't, i was having a go at someone who had a stop after chiming in with something unrelated to my thread. i appreciate allt he comments here, i can't be bothered w/ someone talking about something else that having a moan when i say that's not what i'm asking aboout.
as i said, i'm not overclocking.
There's no issue with recommending other stuff where reasonable. They're the same price, one had a free game and performed better and had more vram so it makes sense short of him having a biased preference. There's a lot of bitter people on this thread already but he pointed out it's only Nvidia he's after so others have stopped recommending AMD just as requested and that's all there is to it.OP asks which 970 is better and usual suspect recommends AMD - lol

Take it easy.
Take what easy?
Very grown up response![]()
Let's see.
GTX 970
3.5GB VRAM + 0.5GB
partial Async Compute
Possible drop off in performance as new architecture is release due to reduced developments in drivers
R9 390
8GB VRAM
Full Hardware Async Compute
No drop off in performance due to drivers based on GCN architecture
Since many also say the GTXC 970 can be overclocked, it's fair to say so can the 390 so the point is moot.
