AMD GPUs will power 'Oculus Ready' Alienware PCs

Not really, the opening post of the thread tries to claim that AMD have some sort of exclusive deal on with Oculus and/or Alienware for VR ready PC's, none of which is true.
Alienware dropped AMD altogether and are now adding them back in as an option. That's it.

"Oculus Ready" just means the PC has either a GTX970 or a 290 as a minimum. Its not any kind of special deal between Oculus and AMD as much as AMD are trying to lead you to believe with their wording.
 
maonayze your own post is entirely off topic as well, all you're doing is poking the fire trying to act like the better member around here and taking a jab at the "usual suspects" when really you get involved in a lot of petty arguments yourself and is why you know the usual suspects. If you have a problem with the moderating use the new section for it.
 
AndyBird123 I didnt see anything in the OP that indicated an 'Exclusive' deal with Oculus or Alienware at all.

And even if it did...who cares if AMD have an exclusive deal with Oculus and Alienware....I certainly dont and I wouldnt know why anyone else would care either. If you don't work for any of those companies why would you care? Just saying :confused:

As another poster has said previously it's nice that AMD have got some kind of thing going with the bigger companies again. After all they need a bit of a leg up at the moment and its better for everyone that they get one.

Ayahuasca, I do have a problem with the moderating as it happens...there doesnt seem to be any policemen actually walking the streets of this here town and it would be nice to see the odd post by a moderator in an effort to try and keep the discussions on topic and to keep them civil, sensible and interesting.

Yes I have got into some petty arguments but it usually stems from getting annoyed with some peoples obvious attempts to derail threads which they really have no interest in, except to troll and destroy what usually starts out as a good discussion or announcement.

Thanks for pointing out about the moderating section, as I didn't know there was one.

Having an opinion on something and caring can be 2 totally different things, one does not have to be linked to the other.

Lets just says its good news AMD are back in with Dell/Alienware, anything that helps them shift more units and get some more cash flow is a good thing to keep them in the game.

And lets just leave it now, as all this pointless school yard tit for tat is getting beyond boring in every flaming thread in this section.

Sorry but this just looks like a lump of cheap plastic to me. When the side panel is put on you can't even see inside the case, no window. Just solid black plastic.
 
I will say that I'm not a fan of that Alienware case at all and wouldn't use it if I was paid to (sorry ALXAndy, each to their own).

I've also got a Dell laptop (Inspiron something or other) and it's the biggest pile of **** I think I've ever bought. It really is horrendous. Ivybridge i7 and it basically locks up and has to think if you try to do 2 things at the same time.

Would not buy a Dell again and would recommend my friends to NOT get one. Don't have to advise them against an Alienware as none of them want to spend that much money on a PC.

The rift and the vive are going to be a "6 of 1, half a dozen of the other" kind of comparison on launch.
The rift is nice, has a good screen, good tracking and looks a bit nicer. They've got (potentially) better controllers if you want to do some stood up room sized gaming.

The Vive is valve+htc designed/built so we'll likely see it keener priced and better supported.

There's others coming but I'd say it's quite a 2 horse race at the moment and I wouldn't want to put bets on who wins.

Reports were also that rift was looking to be more like $450 at release (said directly by Palmer Lucky so it's about as authentic/direct as it gets). Assuming valve can do cheaper.... I'd probably buy the Vive.

Money waiting though, I've messed around with the dev kits and streaming to phones (check out "moonlight" android app if you have an nvidia 970 or bigger + some other form of head tracking that works well. Gives a good feel for what we'll get from VR). Will be buying the "best option" on release, if the vive ends up being 90% of the rift at 60-70% of the price, it wins imo (but atm, it's all up in the air as to what final specs of either will look like).
