AMD GPUs will power 'Oculus Ready' Alienware PCs

Mantle is not Direct 12.
DirectX 12 is not Mantle.

Mantle has not 'transformed' into DX12.

There was no DX12 prior to Mantle. DX12 is extremely similar to Mantle in almost every way. There would be no DX12 without Mantle.

There was no Vulkan before Mantle. Large parts of Vulkan ARE Mantle. There would be no Vulkan without Mantle.

LiquidVR IS Mantle(2). There would be no workable VR without Mantle and LiquidVR.

Mantle will no doubt form the basis for VulkanVR and DXVR in future .. though not soon as I'm sure AMD intend to milk their gigantic advantage in VR over NVIDIA for a couple of years first.

Mantle as a low level API in gaming failed, you can dress it up anyway you like. It failed.

Based on the above, I can't think of a more transformative API there's ever been in the gaming or graphics industry.

Whaty's the name of that tech that AMD's going to use to make VR less nauseating?

Mantle(2). AKA LiquidVR.

If DX12 was similar to Mantle why do the results say different.

If you use AOTS bench and maximum settings (Ultra) @2160p why does a Titan X out perform a Fury X in every way.

Not only is the Titan X faster but it uses a lot less memory too.

If Mantle was anything like DX12 you would expect the AMD card to take advantage of it better and to have better memory management lol.

the alienware "oculus ready" page is now live, it takes you to the X51 page... default option is a GTX970... and in the optional section... not a single AMD choice available

Surely amd must have something to offer Alienware.

Or was it another rumour that turned out to be hot air?

Not surprised tbh, my inbox went ding ding ding last night with NvidiaVR marketing from bigN, OcUk and competitors all plugging NVR and AMD is no where to be seen.

Taking it back to Dell, why are they even plugging the 970 as VR ready when it doesn't meet min requirements on a few VR titles already I simply do not know.
