What the hell overclockers! 60pa min call charge [Moderator edit: OcUK can be contacted on 01782 444

You didn't read your text from Vodafone saying that from August they are going to be charging an arm and leg for certain 08 numbers and you could cancel your airtime agreement with no cancellation fee if you are affected?

hmmm, did not get a text, i'll give them a call 2morrow to see if i can get that taken off my bill.

thats strange, where else would i get that number from then? all i have is my phone and I can remember I went on the site and got the number from there, but what page im not sure on...

edit, ok had a look and it seems there is a landline number on the contact us page, but right on the bottom via ACCOUNT DEPT FOR SUPPLIERS is a 0870 number, a little different though, anyways i'll call the landline from now on

How do you know you're making a mistake if no one ever points it out?

I'd say.. who cares, but you know, for some it does. The sort of people that gets a buzz out of correcting such nonsense. I'm sure I could go through all of Dimple's posts and pick at them, but you know, I won't, because.. well, I don't care.

Why are you fixating on people getting a buzz from it? Do you realise and acknowledge that you're imposing that aspect upon him?

I do yes, fixating, meh, no, just on this one poster. You've not been here long enough I guess, but he does like to come across in that manner. It's not fixating though, just a trend.

You dialed 0871 on your mobile?
You're blaming OCUK for your error?
You're blaming OCUK for Vodafone's pricing structure?

not blaming anyone, im saying its rather expensive for a customer service call, to be charged £20 im sure you would have get that issed off feeling you were charged, especially all this mobile pricing laws changing, I thought that a 0870 would be a local rate charge, I know coz i received info on re-pricing for 0870/1 numbers from vodafone, even 0800 number calls are free from mobiles now, remember this is not a premium rate chat up line, its a number for customer services for a online retailer...

It is a local rate, from a land line...

Also, please acknowledge that it's would HAVE, not would have.

It amazes me the sheer number of people on here of late who don't know how phone numbers work :D the "steam keeps asking for my phone number" thread springs to mind!

When you sign your phone bill they will specify what numbers you will be charged for and if it's not advertised clearly when you sign your contract they will later contact you to let you know about changes.

If you call one of said numbers prepare to pay for it.

This shows that there is a need for a Sexy RMA chat line at premium rates for those wanting a special service. :p

Why would they know what 0871 or 0845 number is?

These numbers were introduced back in a day when "long distance" call price scheme existed - they were "non geographical" - as in saving you money - so you paid as if it were local call rather than call between cities. That's what - nineties? Most of people under 30 wouldn't know such things even existed on a small island.

Obviously over the years NGNs turned into rocket scam, with BT paying corps per call to maintain non geographical numbers and milk the old 10p per minute rate and other network interconnect penalty when all local and "long distance" were 1p or free already. There is literally no reason to have NGNs ever again in this country, now or in the future, other than to let BT extort money from other operators. I blame watchdogs for no shutting this scheme down already.

I was drunk and you committed my ultimate sin of replacing have with 'of' and the initials 'ect' when the word is ETCetera.
Usually I'd just think you've had no education but alcohol took over.
Apologies.
