Astronomers may have found Aliens

I'm not sure exactly how much I can elaborate before I have Edward Snowden's colleagues knocking on my door.

But I'll start by explaining the use of literary devices which inhibit the use of free thought in the reader.

Headline: "Everyone thinks that Nasa is about to announce it has found aliens on Pluto"

This is a very dangerous headline to use. It starts off with "Everyone thinks". Now two thirds of people have very limited free thought initially, when these people see something prefixed with "Everybody thinks" they will be inclined to think the same thing purely because they've been told "everybody" thinks that.

OK now. Imagine conversing with someone. When would someone use the phrase "Everyone thinks"? When someone is trying to get you to believe what they said is the norm, right?

What's that got to do with over-use of alien related stories though? What is the agenda?

To find a structure which may have been constructed (key word) isn't as hard to find as many would believe, all you need to look for is shapes & orbits which defy's our understanding of the universe - certain shapes, pattens & forms don't fit with mavity (There is a reason why all large celestial objects are the shape they are).

It could on the other hand be something mid breakup, ergo has a shape which defy's our standard model. It's the same as finding communications which have say prime numbers would be very strong evidence - as these would not with a fairly high degree of certainty exist in nature.

I'll remain sceptical, but it's an interesting find.

Observing the shape of something orbiting another star is pretty difficult with the energy from the star (light and other spectrums) saturating anything else. Even other techniques like looking at the gravitation influences are very limited.

Of course it's difficult, but the principles behind it are quite sound & logical.

Saddens me that its unlikely we'll be able to decently direct image exoplanets any time soon :S
Indeed, sadly we were all born a few hundred years too early!.

Too late to explore the earth, too early to explore the stars.

I don't know. Technology is exponential and it's amazing that we've been able to directly image several already, without dedicated space hardware.

True the last couple of years have seen advances or the glimmer of hope for advances that many thought impossible. Currently though the only direct images AFAIK are blurry blobs of pixels ~8 pixels wide that are basically 1 colour shaded of objects 40+ times the size of Jupiter.
