Vacuum cleaner recommendations

Also, ring up dyson to place the order, if you do it over the phone the CS will usually throw in some extras :)

We bought ours from the electrical goods outlet named after Indian cuisine at the same price. Didn't think to call Dyson to make the order. That said we were replacing another DC ball vac so had all the attachements and stuff from that like the small pet hair removing brush head for using on the end of the wand etc.

Still pretty miffed at the old one. Washed the filters out one day, let them dry for about 4 days but when we went to use the hoover again it blew out air that stunk so bad we had to open all the windows :(

Going to order some replacement filters for that and use it as a car vac as the power button on our old vax has broken.

how big is your house? how big are the rooms? how specious are the rooms? mostly carpet or hard floors? if you have carpet, how thick is the pile? do you have pets? do you have a lady in the house with long dark hair?

i've professionally cleaned for over 10 years so should be able to give good advice.

People really still use Henrys?? But... they are inefficient, old worldy, pointlessly terrible bits of equipment.

Can't compete with a modern hoover at all. They do the job, any surface, nice and easy, no need to keep going over spots etc.

Dragging bristles is horrendous compared to a rotating bristle head. Adding the power from a Dyson to that makes it perfect for purpose.

TBF my fiancée has a Henry in her flat, not too much a problem as wooden floors mostly, but my local Gudawara has one and it's an absolute ball ache to use on all the carpeted halls and you constantly have to go over the same bit just to get a bit of hair.

Everyone will have their own favourite, be it Henry, Dyson or Miele. Some will have those that have been great, whilst others seem to only last a year?!

For me I couldn't be happier with my Dyson. It's a DC04 that I bought 13 years ago and its still just as good as when I first got it. I've had it serviced by Dyson once (pay a fixed charge of £60 and they will service and replace any part that is worn / damaged including wands etc) and have washed the filters out once a year. The Dyson engineer told me there is no need to replace the filters, a good rinse is all that they require.

So for me I would be happy to buy another Dyson.

Pay that little more and get a Dyson, we did last time after saying they were over priced for many years and turning nose up like you do. However I wouldn't look back now.

Go back in time to 5th October and get up to ~80% off vacuum cleaners in the Vax sale.

If only this thread was created yesterday. ;)

Henry's aren't great and they fall over too easily. Commerical vacuums like James or NVP 180 are much better.

Can't get on with Dysons myself the head is clunky and the shaft is much too heavy. And emptying the thing... urgh. Give me a bag to contain everything please. And the suction is no better than a commercial cleaner. If you believe that you're buying into the advertising hype.
