I haven't really played racing games in ~15 years. In fact, the last racing game I've played extensively was NFS Porche. I'm considering trying one of the 3 or any other good game if you have more suggestions.

I don't own a wheel nor will I purchase one in the near future. I will be using my keyboard.
I prefer to cruise through forests/mountains/towns rather than sports tracks.

Basically, I want NFS Porche with nice graphics, lots of cars and tracks. :D

What say you, oh wise ones?

Get a 360 pad at least, dude...

I don't think any of the above titles are really what you're looking for tbh.
Of the three, Dirt Rally maybe if you just want to drive around looking at forests.

Then again, perhaps Assetto with a couple of mod tracks like Lake Louise, Pikes Peak and Transfagaran?
Then there's the California highway in Pcars... Still not worth investing for a couple of exceptions IMO.

Project Cars has a few country roads but even those aren't very long really. I dont know how anyone can play racing games with keyboards either, digital inputs are awful for driving.

Do you guys have any other games that might suit the kind of driving/features he's after?
Not really into circuits or even racing much by the looks of it. Pretty much just driving around and checking out the scenery.

I think GTA5 might be the one :D

Project Cars has gotten so much better of late, definitely playable now the controller has been sorted somewhat.

Recorded with my potato, buy you get the idea lol

Does the latest patch make the controller much more better? I havent played in a few months purely because driving in a straight line felt impossible, you were basically fighting to keep the car on the track every step of the way.

If it's fixed I might be tempted to reinstall and update to latest patch.

True, I'm not into circuits but I fancy some racing with a career mode sprinkled on top. I've played quite a bit of ETS2 and yes, it's relaxing, I just want a bit more bite now, like the old NFS Porche.. I suppose they don't make such games anymore?

Wait a few weeks for the new Need for Speed?

need for speed has been delayed on PC till Spring 2016

absolutely, plays really lovely now on controller. If you install it, give me a shout if you need my controller settings.

You kind of already answered your own question:

Get the new NFS when it comes out.

None of the games you listed in the thread title are remotely playable with a keyboard and mouse. Hell, I'd argue none of them are even worth playing with a gamepad. These are simulators(or sim-type in the case of Dirt Rally) that really become worthwhile once you've got a FFB wheel.
