** OcUK KINGS OF G-SYNC: PREDATOR X34 CURVE & ASUS PG279Q 165Hz IN STOCK!! **

lol, you're funny dice.

There's many big differences, but lets say try this one...

Fix your eyes on any spot at all on your TN, then keep your head still and look around the monitor screen. Notice the ****ing awful colour shift ? Do the same with your IPS. ;)

Really? I did that and didn't notice any change. Looks fine to me. Thinking maybe you had some bad luck with TN panel?

lol

Try this mate...

get a smallish jpeg, stick it at the top left of your screen, copy the image to the bottom right. fix your eyes on one of the images then move your eyes to the other one. you see ?

Nope still don't see

Work mate of mine did setup the monitor with some type of colour thingy thing, Spider something it was called, A type of calibrator doohicky.

I know, My techno speak is amazeballs :p

I'm still hoping for more high-refresh VA panels if not OLED, fed up of the compromises with TN & IPS.

Having owned the Eizo I won't rush back to VA in a hurry, absolutely no detail in the shadow areas, over saturated colours and TN type colour shift weren't exactly great features, certainly, for me, no better than IPS or an 8 bit TN.

OLED would be lovely though. :D

Yup. I was using a Samsung VA TV as a monitor for a few days, and it was horrid. Detail/contrast crush (loss of shadows as you said). And colour shift from the centre of the screen to the corners.

IPS has glow but much better detail and colour uniformity.

TN has the best response but horrific off-centre picture mangling :p

And if AU Optronics are statrting to make IPS panels (AHVA), having been the major VA panel manufacturer, then you know all is not rosy in the VA world :p

Fair enough, didn't ever get to see one in the flesh so to speak :( black crush sucks.

Amusingly using http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php on my Dell U2415 the squares are all nice and distinct, as expected, but on my rMBP screen the entire first two and a half rows are indistinguishable! Ouch.

He's right. There is definite colour shifting on the swift, and on any TN panel. It's most pronounced though when you move your actual head, and vertically, not left to right. Keeping your head still and just looking round doesn't produce the effect enough.

If people can't see colour shift when elevating their head up and down they must be bloody blind! Might as well buy a £50 monitor. :) I almost wish I couldn't, then the TN swift would be perfect.

Just got my X34, and I'm getting screen tearing at exactly 100fps. That normal?

I have VSync disabled in control panel and in games and I'm using a 100 FPS limit in Afterburner/Riva.

You have to leave V-Sync ON in control panel. You turn it off in your game settings. Also make sure you have G-Sync enabled in NCP

You sure about that? I've seen a lot of people say you need to switch V-Sync OFF.

Also isn't on of the benefits of G-Sync no input lag from having to enable V-Sync?

Nope that's definitely how you do it, and it doesn't mean v-sync gets enabled it just means it caps your fps so it stays within gsync range.

As a recent adopter of a gsync monitor, i gotta admit that it is brilliant. If your an amd owner contemplating a freesync monitor, Do it, and do it quickly. Ill admit i was sceptical of what it could do. Once you try it. there is no going back. It isnt a thing you can put into words and try to explain on a forum. You neeed to try it, and once you do you will probably get hooked on it.
