:D first time I tried rollers was after a few pints at a mates, couldn't ride the next day from the fall on to hard tiles.

Well, as promised it's raining. Not as badly as it might have been, but still worse than I'd want to ride a metric century with the thick end of 5000ft of climbing in which is what I'd been planning. I'll save that for next weekend and just go for a shorter ride tomorrow afternoon.

My oh-noes-they're-so-crap second hand Lithion 2 tyres from eBay arrived. They look like they're barely seen the road. Not bad for £13.

Don't ask questions if you can't handle the answers yo.

I can handle the answers. My concern was more around the idea of buying second hand tyres, not those tyres in particular. I know those tyres are fine for what I want them for, I've used them before.

The trouble with asking about tyres is that most people haven't used the hundreds of tyres that they like to profess an opinion on. Most people have used a handful of tyres and can offer some opinions on those. So yes, I didn't like Gatorskins as much as the Lithion 2s, my Rubinos are stiff and heavy, my Zaffiros are better but still nothing special, Pro 4 SC on my best bike are great. Ask me about Open Pave, GP4000s or anything by Vredestein? Not a clue.

People do often spout opinions as fact, including when they've had no personal experience about the subject. It's a pretty universal thing and I agree with you about that.

However, in this case you took a gamble and it paid off. It doesn't mean to say that the next time someone orders second hand tyres that the same will happen.

So going back to Garmin Vector pedals. Am I correct that I'll need to purchase new shoes? Currently using SPD-SL shoes/cleats.

I'm still looking for something to replace my trusty Schwalbe Stelvio's but nothing I can find comes anything like close to them.

I've only ever ridden on GP4000's as that's what my bike came with when I bought it used.

Recently upgraded to FR3's and put Schawlbe One's on and have been impressed so far. I don't have much to compare them to but I don't have anything negative to say either. Supposed to be quite a fast tyre but as I upgraded rims at the same time I can pinpoint that precisely but might be an option worth considering?

Don't know much about the Stelvio's or where they rank in the grand scheme of rubber mind.

Does anybody else have a drawer/box full of 'bike food'? :) Local market stall haul today for the grand total of £2:

I find a pair of the oat biscuits & a banana hits the spot nicely and digests comfortably. As does a snickers :p

So after a summer that is remembered by me as being windy all the time are we going to have a settled winter? Out this morning instead of racing this afternoon as too many other things to do in that thing called life.

Clear skies (4c at 8am) no wind. Almost perfect (just another 15c would have been nice)

Planet X TT Bike sold - but gotta wait until I can sit on a bike again before I can train... :'(

I'll be back - not sure if i'll be back on the road though - kinda nervous now. Might go track only.
