Brothers brought an internal hard drive round and I've attached it to my mobo (sata and power cable).

Can see the drive in my computer and it's showing as having around a tb on data on it

However the drive appaers empty with no folders when I click on it in my computer

Any ideas why I can't see the files, is it permissions issues?

Thanks chap. Tried Ubuntu and could only see the recycle bin and system volume folder on there. Seems a nice OS though... (Didn't install it, just used the try option)

Managed to see all the files and copy them using the getdataback tool that you linked to so thanks for that :)

What's the under lying issue here though. I thought it would be a simple swap from one PC to another with the drive but appears this is not the case?

What does disk management show for the partition information. Is it showing as a healthy disk.
Can you run chkdsk on it?
Andi.
