Xbox one USB adapter for Windows

Can't seem to get mine to work. Comes up in device manager as Xbox ACC but doesn't install the drivers and I can't see the driver on the MS website either.

Same, can't get mine working. It doesn't say there are any drivers missing, but the controller doesn't currently pair with the adapter.

I guess it's something to do with what Nismo said. Maybe we have to wait until tomorrow.

Edit: just saw the post above. Will try that now.

Turns out mine installed the driver automatically:

So the fix above didn't work. I'll try uninstall manually.

Hmm, mine isn't working at all, despite using the drivers from the catalog website.

I took it out of USB 3.0 and stuck it into a 2.0 slot, restarted, plugged it back into 3.0 and it worked.

Mine's in a USB 3 slot FWIW but that shouldn't make any odds.

Rest assured the problem you've encountered isn't unique. I'm hoping this accessories app that is due tomorrow solves everything otherwise I might be sending it back and sticking with wired USB.

Hope so! I wonder if the people with problems have a slightly older firmware on their controller and just have no way to update it because no Xbox! I've had my controller since release day and it's never been used on an Xbox One, so that would make sense.

Mine is in USB 3.0 now. I know it shouldn't make a difference but it's something else for Craig to try.

How do you update the firmware on the controller? Mine has never been wired to my Xbox One.

Possibly, but I had a launch day pad and a more recent Lunar White one and they both worked (or not) in the same way.

I did subsequently update both using my console thinking that might restore rumble, but no :o

Xbox Accessories app is now on the Windows Store. At work now so can't see if it fixes any issues. Fingers crossed.

Mine arrived and it works in Win 10. After a quick pair I launched Metro 2033 Redux and was able to navigate the menus and play the game with the controller.

However as others have said that the rumble doesn't work and impulse triggers, well they have never worked or atleast I have never found a game that supports it.

Have you downloaded and run the Accessories app? I was hoping that would fix rumble.

I can't believe they have released it if it doesn't work over wireless (rumble), seems bizarre when the 360 pad was fine.

So altogether around £70 to use a controller

I think I'll wait for an unofficial one to appear, my 360 one has worked flawlessly for a year, think it cost me a few quid off the bay.

Yup, I hate how pricey controllers are these days, especially since they don't add much functionality. The XB1 has very few improvements over the 360 controller, yet look at the price. The wired 360 pads come with sufficiently long cables and can be found cheaper than £20 at good retailers. The big issue with wireless XB pads is the connectivity, all they had to do was make it use microUSB and/or bluetooth. Then things would be much easier.

I purchased a DualShock4 a while back (both to use on PC and as a 2nd PS4 controller) and the overall cost to use on PC for me is about £45, less if one is willing to use a lengthy microUSB cable. Some games work from the the get-go and others require the DS4Windows program to work, which is better since it allows for rebinding button, changing sensitivity, etc and even lets us use the touchpad as a mouse. Features not available on the XB1 pad (unless someone makes a program like DS4Windows).

£40 is still overpriced, but it has a slight bit more value, since it can also be used on PS3 (albeit without rumble) and has better connectivity/easier charging. No need to buy a proprietary charger. Plus the BT adaptor I bought to use it can also be used with other peripherals too, I'm currently using it to connect my WiiU Pro Controller to my PC.

At least the XB1 pad has a few improvements, no more bulky battery pack and slightly better D-Pad. But since I don't have an XB1 yet, that £70 to use it on PC is pointless when I still have wired 360 controllers and a few others that work via Bluetooth like the DS4. A question for XB1 pad users, have you been able to use your controller on a 360? It would add value if it did.

Just downloaded it and for some reason I cannot access the menus to configure or do a f/w update as the app suggests. All I get is a picture of a controller.

I am not getting any of this configuration showing

Meh :(

What a **** show the release of the adaptor has been. People have been looking forward to it for ages as well.

I ordered mine 21st from Microsoft direct and it came on the 22nd.
However took me ages to sync the controller and adapter, it just wouldn't pair properly for some reason.
Finally got it paired and now it randomly disconnects the controller every 10 mins or so.
Haven't seen the Accessories app yet so I'll give that a go.
Anyone else getting random disconnects?
