It is slightly more noticable when i have been playing games in "game mode" on a black backround

the brightness in the image is @ 80

Looks good :D I have a little more BLB than that, but not by much - same 2 corners too, and tiiiiny bit in the top right I think.

What settings r u using? brightness and the like

admittedly im currently having a problem getting the TFT settings to save, seems like i set them, then once i use game mode they reset

i also read a post on another forum and a guy said his BLB improved over time

Any news on the Freesync model getting 100hz? Would be perfect for me if it did.

I very seriously doubt it will, isn't it the G-Sync module that allows this?

Plus from a commercial vantage point that kinda negates 1 of the killer features of their more expensive model which they'd rather you'd purchase.

Using essentially the same settings as recommended in the TFTCentral review, except I'm using 42 brightness instead of their value (which was in the 20s I think, looked waaaay too dark for me).
There's a thing in the awful OSD menu for saving your settings, I found doing it several times seemed to make it stick.

Its dark for a short while, your eyes adjust and its bright.

Recommended value was 36, what I'm using. Looks right at night, can be a bit dim during the day. Quite frankly unless you're doing colour work just set it to what is comfortable. For gaming it's better to do that than to adjust brightness (actually gamma) in the settings for games.

Yesterday I briefly played BF4's Operation Outbreak, an outdoor, open map. Wow.

I mentioned mine may have relaxed a bit over time as I think it's also to do with how the screen is mounted as you can slightly reduce the BLB my applying gentle pressure in the very corner tips.

For a bit I had a low wattage daylight bulb on in the room, in addition to the white LEDs light strips I always have behind my displays. I just game with the rear light strips now as I'm not noticing those brighter areas so much.

Mine is also very like that BLB pic Chipper500 posted.

I use the 34 setting for brightness and also found the step 1 on the dark boost? setting works without affecting the overall blackness.

Popular competitor has just let me down (no surprises) so looks like I'm sat waiting again. Asked for a refund, their not keeping my grand.
Edit: Now got an email saying picked, wtf!!!

Anyone know how to get non-game mode settings to stick?

Whenever I come out of game mode it resets to default settings, so gamma 2.2 and 85 brightness instead of gamma 2.4 and 25 brightness.

Not a real concern as I could just leave game mode on and set this up as GM 1 I suppose.

I know what you mean, the manual is a bit crap haha

I don't really think it does anything apart from these profiles, or maybe it turns off the FPS counter and crosshair thing, if it's on?

Seems to be more than a few issues with this monitor so I can't say I'm surprised... clearly they released this thing WAYYY too early before QC'ing it even the slightest! Shame because for the few that actually seem to work properly, it appears excellent.

Think about the journey it has been on since it was made in the factory.

Mine's sat in two houses and been lugged halfway across the country and it was still in one piece. Actually I was suprised how little there was of it when I pulled it out considering the size of the box, its 50% packaging.

Brightness 59
Contrast 46
Black level 3
supersharpness: on
six axis saturate:
Red: 70
Green 52

I don't seem to have a problem with it remembering anything

Looks almost identical to mine.

I'm not even sure what "Game Mode" is supposed to do. I just leave it in Game Mode profile 1 all the time, lol

I just left it in whatever teh default mode is, "Game Mode" is too dim and has that annoying humming sound. Havn't bothered trying to fiddle with it as yet I'm happy enough with default tbh.

Manual is basically the OSD controls and thats it. I spent about 15 minutes trying to find where to plug the power lead in!

Acer is recalling all the X34's.

I appreciate your patience while we investigated the concerns discussed here related to the X34 backlight waking from sleep. After working with you and performing our own testing, we found that this symptom is seen most often when lower brightness settings are selected. Unfortunately, a firmware or “do it yourself” solution is not possible to address this. Instead Acer has identified that a hardware level remedy is required. So currently our repair and contact centers are being brought up to speed to assist.

This means, we suggest contacting your local support team who can help setup the repair services. Our repair turnaround time is very short in most regions, which means you will only be without your X34 for a few days. Note that Acer is also taking steps to apply this solution to inventory that has not reached customers yet.

Again thank you for your patience and assistance in working through this.
