how much do i need to pay to get what i want?

Love those cars - most round here hate them because they don't handle brilliantly but if you aren't too fussed about that then I think they're superb

I've had a 9-3 2.0T aero auto pre facelift in black and a facelift vector sport diesel (like yours) in red. The red one actually overtook me last night, turned and thought "ooh that's a nice looking car........wait, that was MY car!". Made me miss it! Didn't have a single issue with either of them too.

Re the stereo - with pre facelift 9-3s you're pretty stuck due to the fibre optics. But on the facelift you can fit a double din which improves it hugely, you need a few adapters depending if you have the amp or not but a colour touchscreen looks factory fit in those dashes

Yup, my next upgrade :D

Coming from a Jaguar S Type I really miss decent sound quality

Funny as I'm now in a jag (X type) and the sound even with my Pioneer head unit, is pretty crap!

Do yourself a favour and get the fitting bits from Incartec - I tried with the connects2 stuff and it just didn't work properly. Incartec make their own stuff and it's a bit more expensive but not much. If you have an amp (assuming you will) then you'll need to remove the glovebox to squeeze all the adapter boxes down the side. The stock system actually sounds quite decent but that horrid GM head unit they come with does it no favours.

So many good looking cars in this thread that normally get bypassed. I'm a huge fan of the Saabs too. Some of the extra little features in them are great. Like double door seals!

The alfa above is nice, but they have a poor reliability reputation dont they so its off the table.

Shares a lot of common parts with Saab/Vauxhall being GM tech sharing in that era, reliability has always been fine on what I have owned.

Price wise they are all over the place, you can find one in budget.

Lots of people recommending the saab 9-5, and I keep coming back to it. I'm sure it would be the best choice, but there isn't a lot out there to choose from. They are all either as old as my current car or a bit newer with mega miles. The aero or HOT models will be lucky to see 25mpg.

I like my 9-5 aero but though it's fast the handling isn't great. There's no real feel though it's got a lot of grip. 25mpg is easily achievable, mine does that driven hard on a 20 mile each way A road commute and low 30's are easy enough on the motorway, high 30's if you try.

Uksaabs is a great site for more info and there's usually a few for sale on there too.
