** POTENTIALLY THE BEST GAMING MONITORS YET!! ** Acer 34" Ultra-wides

I only ever saw it happen on the X34 when I had it for testing and I'm one of those people who does like to put his pc to sleep a lot. It never happened when I tested the XR341CK FreeSync model. But even on the X34 it didn't do it every time when it resumed from sleep. Sometimes it was fine without issue. Others it would sort of half light up when it first resumed then fix itself as soon as you logged in to Windows again (as that triggers a momentary black screen before desktop is loaded). Other times if it stuck I would just power off the monitor and power it back on. A few seconds and hardly a big problem. For someone who uses sleep a lot, I really don't think it was a big issue at all.

It's being blown way out of proportion imo, especially by people who are clearly just trolling or want to bad mouth every Acer product. If it is a concern and you use sleep a lot, or find it affects you a lot Acer have identified the cause and can fix it for you via a warranty support ticket.

Calling it a full recall of all X34's is just nonesense

Cheers man!

That is not something I've seen much of but yes, I would say that is an issue. Have you returned and swapped it with Acer as could be a one off? Tried a different DP cable? Does it do it if you don't use Overclocking feature and stick to 60hz with Gsync? What about if you cap your Overclocker a step lower?

It doesn't seem to be something which is happening on all X34's for sure. Personally I haven't been able to try a different DP cable, however others have tried it and it has had no effect on the scanlines. I will try it at 60Hz as i haven't yet, but it is directly linked to the G-Sync as at 100Hz OC the lines completely disappear when G-Sync is turned off, I have tried 95Hz and it has made no difference. I have also done everything I could do with the drivers - removing and reinstalling the latest ones.

Weird one. Try another cable and with no overclock enabled as it might help narrow it down a bit

Sadly I have no way to try another cable, but I have just tested with the OC disabled and there is no difference, the lines are still there, no matter which refresh rate I selected the lines will only disappear when G-Sync is disabled.

Edit- Removing my GPU Overclock made no difference either.

Surely it shouldn't do it at all ?

I'm afraid at this point it looks like the G-Sync module is broken in some way in this situation, there doesn't seem to be any remedy - I've certainly tried pretty much everything bar changing out the cable, and someone else who has had the issue has tried that and it has made no difference. It's annoying really, if it wasn't for that it would be perfect but the lines are very distracting, they reduce image quality and although I'm not the most familiar with these things, seems to create a screen-door effect as lines on a LCD do. Some have mentioned they have only got it on one part of the screen (however truthful that actually is), I can confirm that the lines are on all of my screen - but I repeat, only when G-Sync is active.

I'll send mine back to keep it up to date but I'm not aware of multiple issues with this monitor and I've been using it daily since I bought it!

For me there is no "perfect" monitor that's why I have a 40" 4K UHD VA monitor and the Acer X34 IPS so I don't have to compromise with just the one format.

some people are made of money. :)

Yeah it is being blown out of all proportion. Least they dont catch fire ! ;) Reading the Acer forum is quite funny as there is a lot of hate there.
I was just wondering whether most of the posters were from the US so different mentality when a product has an issue.

Personally I think the use of sleep is evil due to experience so if I had a X34 it wouldnt bother me as I never use sleep.

Judging by the overall comments so far considering its an Acer its been a "success" especially compaired to the 28" IPS.

Without wanting to sound like a broken record, the sleep issue is nothing compared to the scan lines some (albeit not all) including me have experienced. There is has been no word from Acer on this issue either.

People saying fault X isn't as 'bad' as fault Y, yadda yadda yadda. It's laughable.

There should not be ANY faults, simple as that. And I typed that in capital letters yes, for maximum impact.

It's like saying.....well my brand new car only came with 3 wheels instead of 4 but the engine works! And if I lean to the left when I drive it goes, so overall I'm quite happy.
Until people kick up a stink against these manufacturers, and stop buying their products, they will keep churning out substandard faulty ****!

Yes but this wake from sleep issue is about the same as there being s slight rattle from the drivers seat in your analogy :) and one that only occasionally rattles and not even on every car

I know where you are coming from, but the metaphor doesn't quite hold up as the backlight issue doesn't effect this monitor's ability to display a picture, so if it was a car fault it would be minor in the grand scheme of things, but at the same time, as many have said, these shouldn't even be things we have to discuss in the first place.

Exactly. I find it utterly laughable given the £1000 price tag of this monitor that excuses are being made, and/or a whole list of 'fixes' or workarounds being suggested to fix a problem(s) that SHOULDN'T EVEN EXIST in the first place on a 'premium' product like this!! It seems criticising anything these days results in accusations of trolling, when it's nothing more than just pointing out the reality. It seems we've reached a point with monitors where this has become the norm, although it certainly wouldn't be acceptable for pretty much anything else. Does your expensive new top of the range car make a funny noise when you drive... then drive slower, fill it with different petrol, turn the radio up. That would be silly of course. It's a strange time to be buying a monitor that's for sure.

You've touched a nerve there :) I got a new car about 5 months ago. It's been back to the dealer 3 times to get several rattles fixed. I considered them extremely annoying and simply not acceptable for a brand new car. They are now fixed and I'm happy.

But, even though I do love the car, and it's very nice, I'm not sure I would buy this particular brand again due to what I would deem below par build quality for the price.

So for me, whether car or monitor it's all the same. Call me weird but I expect things to be fault free. When did the rest of us become so slack, and easily pleased?

My Dell is tat...simply as...it cost nearly 700 quid...Tech should just work...my Panasonic plasma has been flawless from day one...my top end onkyo AV amp...my monitor audio speakers...

I expected a quality product...I got nothing of the sort...:(

Buying a monitor should not be a lottery...

Buying quality should not be a compromise...good for you.

Woops, I've been out of the loop.

What's the problem now? I don't think I've had any issues with my X34. Half the screen is black when I switch the actual monitor on, but it always lights up when I actually have any video input (so I never have Windows with a dark screen if that makes sense). Is there anything else I should be looking out for?
