My beloved Gigabyte Z87X-OC board has just died - neither bios chip will allow me in too bios - tried everything, but no dice.

Hey gigaman - is it worth getting the bios chips replaced, or is it even possible?
Or would it cost more than the board is worth?

is it still in warranty? 3 years if so they will repair it for you

you tried a long cmos clear? battery left out

Wouldnt worry they are hot and on the ball at the minute, You could replace board or bios chips no big deal. Although being a git i personally think the hassle of such should be *taken care of somehow* hehe.

Mine did that. Could not get into Bios for love nor money. Sent it back to OC who declared it knackered. Got a new one from OC.
It is in the loft fully boxed and I have never used it.

Great board can you let us know how it goes just in case i have the same issue (Z87X-OC Force).

Thanks.

Update to my above post - Gigabyte have repaired my Z87-OC, and should have it back by Monday, and no charge. Think this is excellent service as they replaced the socket which I unfortunately damaged.

Will update again when I have tested the board, but so far - good news.

Fancy giving me some tips on how to overclock on this board.

Bear with me and I will get back to you - gone down with the lurgy at the mo - so not thinking too well. What are your aims though as far as clocking goes? How far are you willing to push it etc.

i wouldnt mind 4.5ghz, but im not sure what all the settings do or what i need to change as its my 1st time with intel.

I made a thread here, if you dont mind helping on there when your feeling better and i get some pictures of the bios to show what settings i dont know what to change.

Oh dear Gigabyte

well finally got round to doing a bench test of my returned board after gigabyte kindly replaced my faulty socket.

Trouble is they did not fix the original issue of not being able to access either bios - so it is still doing it - useless as it is.

Very frustrating - will have to contact them and send it back again, probably not until the New year now as it is getting to close to Xmas.

It is a shame this has happened because I had high hopes of Gigabyte, but at least they did not charge me anything - which is excellent, but..........

Update. Board is going back to gigabyte for a second attempt - will report back when it returns again!!!!!

Oh dear Gigabyte

Gigabyte have had two bites at the cherry at fixing my Z87-OC board which refused to go in to either bios. I have just tested on its return from Gigabyte who sent me photos of it at the boot point in the indicator on board, but....

It is still the same - groan, even though I sent the processor as well as they requested to test with. This is what I tried to get it to work again this time around - what have I missed? This is the message I have just sent them as to what I tried.

Hi,

I have just tested the returned board and I am still unable to get to the bios at all – still same code A9 as before. I know you sent pictures back showing it at boot stage,
But on testing here with same cpu which worked for you – no go. I also notice the board is quite warped - a bit surprised at that, as I don’t remember it being warped.

I have tried the following to get it working ( all on the bench top – on top of the box actually):-

Tried single stick of ram in each of the slots
Tried two known working keyboards
Tried two different power supplies
Tried to re set bios – no go
Tried battery out for a good while
Tried both main and backup bios – all the same A9
The ram I am using is known good and was working fine with this very board until the bios problem came up for which I originally returned to you.
This same ram works perfectly fine in another Asus based system here.

I am at a complete loss as to what else I can try Where am I going wrong here?

Any ideas Guys? This is so frustrating. Looks like it will have to go back for a third try??????
