Garage messed up, course of action?

Similar thing occurred to me back in September 2013 by Halfords,

Technician took my car for a little joyride I complained to senior regional level and in the end got a full refund + front brake pads sorted.

Good thing for dash cams otherwise this kind of thing would go un noticed

For the people asking why the motor industry is in the state it's in-

Dumb kids.

The schools have a considerable number of unteachable thicko's, some of these have the decency to just get put in prison or settle for a life on benefits while drinking cheap alcohol and gobbing on the floor. But many of them stay at school, loitering around and consuming oxygen.

It's these that are the problem, the schools know they are useless but come careers day it's OK, they can just become mechanics as it's only 'fitting fanbelts and stuff'. Every year we have around 6 to 8 'work experience' kids and in 15 years I have yet to see one who is even vaguely employable.

I was about to say 'modern cars', but not even modern any more, cars for the past 20 years have required a good understanding of electronics and problem solving skills something which the vast majority of fodder the schools kick out to us and the kids in college simply aren't capable of.

Trying to teach these kids even in the basics in diagnostics, electronics or even just how to read wiring diagrams is a lesson in futility, we are well into the age of hybrids, self-driving and advanced vehicles but 99% of the people in and entering the trade don't have a hope in hell of having enough fundamental understanding to even attempt to fix them.

But it's OK, in the end it's just 'fanbelts and stuff'.

I see no issue with going public with this. If it was a back street garage, I'd be inclined to tell you to back off.

But this is KIA, they should know better, I would like to see some mileage (no pun intended) out of this.

You just wouldn't get away with this kind of customer service anywhere else (however I do appreciate not being in the public eye etc. has advantages). With dash cams though, they are in the public eye.

Well, the mechanic has identified himself.

Two c-letters and a person by his name is a mechanic at the garage.

Sadly he's deleted his comment since (or it was auto deleted due to the profanity, if it does that?).

It won't auto delete, he deleted it. I wouldn't take the car back there now tbh, you don't know what he or one of the other untrustworthy staff there will do to it out of camera frame.

r/roadcam or r/cars may prove a hit with it too. Better chance of gaining some sort of outcome from the reddit effect. I could post it up if you're not a member? Though it's 50/50 if it gets popular or not :p

What a plonker. Please have some fun with this.

Oh dear. Oh dear oh dear.

Calling the customer whose car he bodged a c word? As if its your fault that he is such a crap mechanic that he can't diagnose a simple problem without taking the fuae out. He's obviously learnt his lesson hasn't he? Sod it, ping it to his employer.

Take him down, I do hope you have proof of this comment, he deserves nothing less.

Next it'll be "Well she's old and won't use her brakes much... we'll just put some part worn pads on and disconnect the abs fuse" (over exaggerating a little here but you get the idea)

Kia uk
Franchise department
Regional manager
MD Kia uk Europe.

Email them with the evidence and your expectations of the repair work being completed by a compentant franchise at their expense (including transporting the vehicle).

Stop dealing with this garage, just go straight to Kia.

Shows the level of intelligence of these people if they have risked getting sacked (there is a very good chance he will now) by posting a pointless comment on youtube.

Definitely take this further and avoid the garage/kia brand at all costs. Maybe even email the local paper? They love stuff like this.

I'd be so tempted to get as much (bad) publicity as possible on these cowboys. Did anyone reply to the comment the mechanic left ?
