There's numerous refuted studies that claim a slight genetic component in which case it isn't a choice anymore than I chose to have brown hair I could dye it blonde to fit in but it will always be brown.

Unless it's some kind of recessive gene where you'd need two parents with it. The studies that claimed genetics played a role only accounted for 7% so it's a hell of a long way from irrefutable evidence .

Most people have a bunch of prejudices around dating and consciously or not they avoid certain types. I reckon a Transgender person should at least have the same opportunities as others to meet people without feeling like a leper, because there is always the chance that even a prejudiced person would reconsider their position once they got to know them.
What if you were dating a cis female and you later found out that she was missing a breast, or she was the victim of FGM. Would you be outraged that she hadn't declared this potential sexual incompatibility immediately just because you bought her a drink? Just maybe she was a bit nervous of your reaction.

So yes it matters, but it is also a bit narrow minded to assume that everyone on Earth must be sexually compatible with your personal preferences/prejudices and that anything other than binary genders should wear a star on their sleeve just so that you can avoid them.

I do not care either, But i think it is absurd we know more about the moon than we do about same sex attractions when it goes against nature. And she is one strong beast because just look at how she encourages you to multiply through pleasure and instinct. And natural selection should in theory be reducing the gay population as well.


For example my cousin is gay and has always been more female ever since he was around 9 or so. His fathers brother used to visit in leather like the lead singer from Queen and nearly got chased out of town for being gay. His own brother called F disowned him and then a few years later F has a son who comes out of the closet and brings his boyfriend home and they get married. So it does point to it being passed down. Weridly his father went to the small wedding yet his gay brother is still excluded.

I'm simplifying the mechanics to make a point, that whatever is going on isn't primarily a carnal lust thing. You don't have to be a dick about it.

You do realise the social pressure of the media, friends, family and (until VERY recently) the government might have had some influence on this.

Hmm interesting point. I guess understanding the moon and space exploration could be more profitable(eventually) than working out why some people like the same gender. I would guess any research into homosexuality also carries a stigma of potentially doing it for nefarious means.

If you take the stereotypes of gay males I imagine a lot of us share similar traits especially in recent years. Yet at least in my experience the most homophobic people are the ones that closest imitate such stereotypes, amusingly.

Personally as much as I'd be intrigued to know what causes or determines sexuality I feel we'd prosper much more as a society by exploring space.

Just think the first time we meet aliens the human race could collectively forget our differences and concentrate our hatred upon the new species. Racism/sexism/elitism solved in a single blow .

We haven't really heard all the facts and exactly what sort of impact this has had on the victim, though.

You could probably kill someone by smashing into them with a car "accidentally" and get the same or less though.

We do the Daily Mail has the link and picture and story, And from what i read the lady in question 100% is convinced it was akin to rape of sorts. She basically says no one will speak to her now and the rest.

And the guilty party also tried to make up various excuses which basically means she got hit hard. Folks if you do something wrong and are going into court. Look up who the judge is and if in doubt put in an early plea. Early plea and remorse would have shaved 40% maybe off her sentance. Which only half is served at most she would have got 2 years for rape.

Some plants can change hormone levels, but that couldn't be the only answer. Enough hormones of the right type will go a long way towards changing a person's sex and can determine the sex of a person if they're exposed to them at the right stage in gestation (all humans are initially neuter, then neuter with the potential to be either sex). But hormone levels don't seem to affect sexual orientation.

Genetics certainly isn't ruled out by inheritance for two reasons:

1) It is possible for many homosexual people to have heterosexual sex. Social norms often made that at least somewhat expected. Obviously so when homosexuality was illegal, but sometimes also when it wasn't. For example, in ancient Rome it was fine for men to have homosexual sex and even homosexual affairs, but they would still be expected to marry a woman and father children.

2) Genetics isn't as simple as "gene X determines characteristic Y". It might well be that a number of genes together govern sexual orientation with only certain combinations of certain variations of those genes causing homosexuality.

Take, for example, eye colour. That's easy to measure objectively and quickly. The obvious idea is that one gene determines eye colour, with different versions of the gene causing different eye colours. The truth is that even after quite extensive study nobody knows how many genes are involved in determining eye colour. It's pencilled in as 16 and it certainly isn't 1.

Imagine a very simple example in which only 4 genes determine sexual orientation and each gene has only 2 possible variations. That's up to 16 possible combinations for each child from the same couple. If only 1 combination of variations of those 4 genes causes homosexuality, each child of that couple will have a 1/16 chance of being homosexual. Regardless of the sexual orientation of either parent. The chance would vary depending on which versions of each of those genes each parent had.

Hmm you know the romans did that yes, But the Greeks also had a thing about having a normal life with a wife and child yet i read they would have a young boy who they would have relations with until he would come of age and act as a mentor. It would be completely forbidden to do so when the boy got older. These people and thier genes spread all over the world through the hellinistic period. And i wonder then did the same happen in isolated places like the Americas? Or Africa? Or Asia? Did the Chinese do the same? And do the levels of people who are not straight increase in Europe or elsewhere?


Also if that did infact happen and caused it to become more and more common, The fact that modern immigration trends mean most homosexual people from Africa and the Middle East will come to Europe and further add Genes into the pool like the Greeks. Meanwhile the levels would then fall in Africa and the Middle East. This is just a theory it is way too much for me to take in but i would like to know the answer. Could it even be something the mothers do while the child is in the womb?


I would not be suprised to see in the future Europe going back to how the Greeks and Romans behaved with sexual relations being highly diverse.
