This may be a bit of a stupid question, but here goes.I currently am using a evga 650ti ssc that seems to be broken as posted on another post on here.So with that in mind to getting another card my question is what would be the best graphics card for my build,as in brand,i.e,Ausu ,Gigabyte, and so forth.

My specs are as follows.
Mobo Gigabyte z97 u3d bk
Ram,16gb Corsair vengeance pro 2400 ddr3
Cpu,Intel i7 4790k.
PSU,Aerocool 850w integrator 80 plus
Hhd,3,1 Is 500gb,2 is a maxtor 250,3rd is a seagate 160gb
Running 2 monitors.

Any advice would be gratefully received, thx

What CPU do you have ?

Best GPU is really a matter of opinion and what you plan on using it on. What size are the monitors ? what res do you play at and how much do you plan on spending

he edited his post to show the cpu

its all dependent on what you want out the card and what you want to spend...

I could turn round to you now and say the best gaming card out there right now is the GTX 980TI get that but then if your not willing to drop £500 on card.

I need a budget card for now as money is a little tight atm.I laid out quite abit of money on my rig, only to find out my gc is probably fubarred. My budget is around £100,plus or minus £20.I know this ain't a lot to put to a gc.As I say though money is a little tight. My main gaming monitor's resolution is 1440.Thx for any advice.

Generally value for money goes to AMD in my opinion. But at that budget you're looking at one of two cards to buy brand new. Nvidia you could grab a 750 ti and AMD a r7 370 which are both reasonable cards not to be scoffed at.

Second hand if you could stretch your budget a bit more you could probably get a 3GB R9 280 or equivalent to tie you over for now.

For 1440p gaming your gonna have to go second hand if ya play newer games with decent graphics. I would suggest a 290 for the top end of your budget, but if ya have to buy new then the 360 looks pretty solid in reviews.

Only thing with ATI is that I had a crappy 5770,I think it was as a put me on card, anyway I dl'ed the ati catalyst manager np.But the trouble came when I came to uninstall it.It was the devil of a job to get it gone, and in fact it is still hidden in my windows registry.

Although as a foot note I'm gonna use dban to get rid of everything on the hd to put a clean install of win 7 ultimate back on.The reason being I had system care 8 from IO bit, which I was told is full of potential viruses.

Anyway I've wandered off the subject. So my point is I think I would rather stay with Nvidia because there driver support is better I think, but thx for all the advice ppl

What games do you play?

If you play any aaa titles neither of those cards are going to stand up at 1440p.

U need a minimum of 4gb vram at that res might get away with 3gb but 2gb is a deffo no go and you would have to run lowest setting with those.

Maybe a 380x or 290x second hand for around £120

The games I'm currently looking at is sw-bf and the new cod.As a foot note I was briefly able to go on the open beta of Ea's Sw-bf and from what I was able to see of it,it played fairly well. That did surprise me at how well it ran,for the 2mins I was able to play it.I have in excess of over around 120 plus pc games both in disk form and steam games. So it would mainly be for older games such as bf3/4 and also I go on Heroes' and Generals.

750ti at high settings at 1080p only gets 45 fps.

4k usage is 4gb vram so 1440p will be around 3gb.

Recommended fir 1440p is a 970 or 390.

Blops 3 high 1080p is 3.5gb vram

Star Wars BF is really nicely optimised, I was impressed by it too. But for older games the 780ti is really a decent pick, however at 1440p, as mentioned, you will be straining and will probably have to adjust settings to compensate on newer games especially.

Ideally I would say stretch your budget a little more to get a used 290x or GTX 970, both are within 5% of each other in performance and can handle 1440p ok with excellent options for xFire/SLi in the future.

On a side-note; Putting your ATI/AMD bias aside will help you in the long run when choosing what parts to buy. Both companies have their faults, though Nvidia is the better evil at the moment, there is still plenty to choose from between the two on different levels.

I was considering the gtx 950 as viable option, but at £130 that's stretching the budget. At least then it would be dx12,which is a crumb of comfort .Also as I say I'm not really into ATI.Like you say its 1or the other, but I'm on the NVIDIA side of the fence .

950 1440p benchmarks basically u cant have any aa on and in aaa games can get lows under 10fps averaging around 30fps.

Your going to have to set ur resokution down to 1080p or go lowest settings
