Feedback on today's announcement

That's enough lafemmefatale. Stop making an issue of something that isn't there.. You've made your point both here and with the moderators and we have deemed it acceptable.

If you wish to discuss this further, then contact a member of the admin team or post in the dispute section. Stop spamming the RTM box.

Looking for a fight simply for the hell of it apparently. Unable to comprehend the fact that the mod team are actually people who have to make decisions all the time which could go both ways. Moderating GD is probably like trying to nail jelly to a wall yet someone seems to think that she MUST have an explanation for a decision one of these guys made.

Is this really what you life has come to?

No, it's not used exclusively by those who blah blah...
You took it that way because you chose to.

While ever the 'T" word is up there, so will that word. Should the admin team edit one and not the other then their position on the matter is crystal clear.

No I agree and I would expect that to be removed also.

Common people its really not that hard. Using words or terms which could be labeled offensive. Just don't use them.

I would argue that any world which could cause offence or is inflamatory goes against the mission statement.

Not showing the mod team in a good light IMO.

I said I wasn't holding my breath anything would be done. My original post about this place being more inclusive and diverse as long as your face fits ....... say no more.

Look at the absolutely horrific manner in which the word was used... Oh, wait.

I would have used the word transgender personally. The word doesn't bother me but it might others.

The mission statement says not to speak to other forum members in a way that they might found offensive. Someone found it offensive and it should be removed according to the mission statement

It's not hard to follow the rules

I find your postings offensive and hereby demand their removal according to your perception of the mission statement.

Someone clearly took it completely the wrong way and has made a massive issue out of it due to their own views on what it means, regardless of context. That's all.

Did you call someone the T word? Regardless of the comparison to the N word, if you did call someone that. It goes against the mission statement surely?

I'm not taking sides but I'm sure most people can make a argument without the use of these "inflamatory" words.
How is it inflammatory exactly? The transgender community can't even come to an agreement on it.

So you're saying if just one person finds something [a word] offensive, it should be banned?

Google Tranny Bingo, seems the LGBT community in Australia don't seem to find the word offensive

In the spirit of transparency, and for clarification, is the word '******' acceptable to use here?

*edit - obviously not as it's filtered. So would you like to state why the 'N' word is filtered yet the 'T' word is fine? They are both as demeaning, dehumanising and offensive as each other .

Tranny is not an offensive word Lucy.
I've been to many Tranny pubs/clubs and hung around a few Tranny's to know they have no problem with it.
Why do you think it's offensive?

What I'm saying is people need to be aware of other people's feelings towards the use of certain words and then communicate with each other in a respectful manner.

The mission statement says we should be polite courteous and respectful. Obviously some posts are not and this goes directly against the mission statement.

The mods have made there bed with what is written.

There are millions of trans people in the world, so yes it's exactly the same. The word is used exclusively by those who wish to demean or abuse, or those who are (mostly wilfully) ignorant to the fact that the word is used like that.

OK, what about '****'? That's a word that's used commonly too as a demeaning insult. Is that OK here?

Explain to me why the term"****" is offensive? I'm not saying it isn't, I want to know what your understanding of it is.

Understood.

If you want any input into your review/discussions, let me know.

Please don't offer your views or input, having read most of the drivel you post you clearly have an agenda and if you don't get your own way to throw a strop.

Leave the mods to sort it out.
