Vehicle Tax Rate Table - What are you?

I don't even know, it's one of the most incidental costs of running a car. I dont know why people get so bothered by it....one of the ones in the middle I guess

Actually it can be the highest fixed element of running a car. I am looking at swapping out my SL-Class with a BMW 650i Sport which is taxed at a whopping ~£500. While this isn't a deal breaker is it highly irritating, it'll be by far and away the largest fixed cost the car will incur :(

Fixed cost, yes - but servicing and fuel etc will be much more!

However, I do agree that the higher rates are distinctly unappealing, I guess I was more referring to the people who get excited by £30 a year tax compared to the sub £200 rates

Depending on the mileage incurrect this may not be true.

For people who have a weekend car that does a couple of thousand a year at the most - if that - the high fixed tax is horribly punitive.

J - so £278.25 because I pay by direct debit. :)

It's a Corolla T-Sport. 1.8 4cyl, but of the highly strung N/A sort which they had to stop making. :p

Both of mine pre 2001, so £230. Car would be £490 if newer though - Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo. Can't find data for my van (2000 Fiat Scudo), but going on the car version it'd be £265.
