AMD R9 Fury X Leaps Ahead Of Nvidia GTX 980 Ti With The Latest Windows 10 Drivers

My Xonar STX II keeps having sort of static problems when I fast forward music and has caused a few bluescreens with the words IRQL STXII coming up.

We need some proper drivers from Asus not some half baked ones.

One reason I switched to soundblaster z mate Asus are poor with drivers.

You should know, Kaap. You run most of the bench threads here :p

Do those fully WC'd Fury X's have noticeably better clocking ability than they do with the provided AIO? Genuine question.
And yeah, it's not fair to compare a card that's specifically designed to be a better clocker than pretty much any other Ti :) Air or not + you also stated that it's cooler is the best.

Comparing a Fury X with custom water running @35C to an air cooled 980 Ti running @55C is definitely not fair.:D

And you are right it is unfair putting a 980 Ti running stock volts up against an overclockers dream.:p:D

What are dodging? Really?

Wow... Unbelievable. Who do you think you're kidding?

Ok here is my 980 Ti and Fury X both using stock volts on Firestrike Ultra which I am told does not favour NVidia cards.

Both CPUs are running @4.0

Both cards are overclocked but on stock volts.

The Fury X is paired up with a 5960X.

The 980 Ti is paired up with a 4930k.

This gives the Fury X a huge advantage using an 8 core more efficient CPU.

Lets see what happened.

Q.E.D.

Almost forgot, the Fury X is using Windows 10 and latest drivers.

Was that so difficult?
Got any game benches? Y'know, things people actually play?
What clock was the Ti running during the bench? 3Dmark doesn't report what it's actually doing as you know.

Example: With my OC, it'll run at 1455-1482mhz. The report says 1255mhz.

Remember, I'm not disputing that the Ti is quicker, I'm just questioning your comparison and I don't know why you've made this so difficult.

3D Mark always favoured NVIDIA cards though - actual games tests would be more useful IMO, such as the ones used in the graphs in the OP.

Thats 17% to the 980TI which isn't as bad as 45% in the Valley Bench that you cited before, the 980TI is reporting 1313Mhz, 3DMark always reports the base clock on Maxwell, so what was it really running at, your 1575Mhz?

Iirc Kaap is using a kingpin 980ti. Very very few other models will hit those sort of clocks.

Yeah, my 970 will do 1604/2100 on stock volts at 65c, its a pretty exceptional clocker even for a 970 which clock that bit higher than 980TI's do.

I can't realistically run it much higher than 1500/2000 for 24/7 use.

Sometimes I just think...are those premium 980Ti (or all those high-end 80/80Ti cards in the pass) really worth the premium comparing to the standard 980Ti in the finanial sense?

I know that "feel good factor" certain is involved, but comparing to a 980Ti at around £650 to ones that's around £500, is it really worth it in the finanial sense? they certain cost around 30% more, but they are FAR from being 30% faster...more like around 5% faster at most case performance wise, which usually would only translate to 1-2fps higher at sub 60fps?
