Assassin's Creed: Syndicate - NVIDIA GameWorks

Ok ignore my previous settings for frame rate, that was the prologue rather then out and about in the city.

Ultra pre-set, toned down to PCSS, HBAO+ and just FXAA gives me around 50-60fps on a stock 980Ti with just under 4gb vram usage at 1440.

Going to have a play about with MFAA etc... see if I can offset the performance hit.

The game does look good, but not that good for the kickin' my card is taking :p

Yeah it's my PC playing up. So I can't comment yet.. I'll get it sorted and give it another go.

Forgot to turn it on, oops! Working fine :D

Crossfire works but not great scaling just yet. I get around 30-45 fps single card but with crossfire it fluctuates around 35-75 fps with 70% max usage on both cards. Hopefully it may improve with new drivers.

I'm getting right up to 99% usage 90% of the time. Sitting around the 80fps mark.

I have mine locked to vsync so maybe thats why it's lower usage. I just tried the BF:Hardline profile and it seems better. The game is sticking to around 55-60 fps now with almost everything high or extra except shadows at medium.

A video that has a good look at the visual enhancements in the game.

And comparisons with Unity

I love how the comparison with Unity video has [FullHD][60fps] in the title and then when it starts it say's PS4 versions. ie: sub HD at 30 fps.

When you watch the random walkable interiors segment 4:30 onwards (5 min's for Syndicate) he cant find any for Syndicate which bolsters the impression that a lot more effort was put into Paris and it's architecture than London. The build up leading to the games release gave that impression and it sounds about right.
Hopefully that's because they put there effort into getting a relatively smooth game out on release.

How is it running peeps?

There's no question that they've cut back a fair bit on the detail of the world and the number of NPCs on the streets. Which is weird, as London's population at that point was about five times that of Paris when Unity was set. I mean, obviously the reason it's been done is to help performance (especially on consoles no doubt), but it's a shame that they've actually scaled back Unity's ambition in some ways. I still think that's the best-looking game ever made maxed out on PC.

For a UbiSoft game - rather nice for a change :)

A few glitches now and again like invisible trains etc. :D

But it does look the dogs IMO.:)

This, though I haven't hit a glitch yet, or at least that I've noticed.

I ended up letting GFE sort out settings for me.

Running 70-90 fps window now, still looks rather nice. The lighting and shadows especially.

Game runs ok for me once I drop shadows to medium, AO to HBAO+ and AA to FXAA.

Whilst it is massive, highly packed with people, kids, tightly packed buildings etc. etc. Overall the textures look very meh imo and personally I think the lighting looks pretty bad and is making some outside parts of the game look even worse, some indoor areas look really nice but that is about all. Sweetfx helps a **** load to get rid of the blurry look but none of the current ones are helping with the contrast/colours.

Is it worth me playing Unity before Syndicate? Only an hour or so in atm

I'm already finding it a bit repetitive but I guess if you love the AC series then it's good. Gameplay seems to revolve around simply clearing certain areas by killing/assassinating all the enemies .

The rooftops don't appear to add anything apart from admiring the scenery or to jump from when assassinating. The first section before the city levels was more entertaining.

I've got my finger hovering over a 215gb Samsung M2 950 pro or a 500gb 850 Evo at the minute as you get Syndicate free and my basic 840 needs updating. I shouldn't really spend the money on that at the minute but with the game for free it is tempting.

I saw AC Rogue for under a tenner at a key site too, I know it was a last gen title but I read it was a good port so I may placate myself with that for a day or two while I think about it..
