What have you done to your car today?

Buys rally car. Locks away for winter :(

Fair enough re the salt though.
I'd the it somewhere cold and have epic fun in the snow. How about those F1 tracks carved into that lake in Lapland :D

It's not a rally car. Its a road car. The rally car was probably close to £500,000.
Mine cost me £6800. 6 years ago.

Reminds me I have to clear out the garage so I can store my rally rep for the winter! Saying that near enough every year I do take it out in the snow although I feel like I am cutting my wrists doing so!

Not my car and done yesterday, but I finally made good use of my garage on my new house. Have a sense of satisfaction and was glad that I made the decision to stick with my guns to get a house with a usable garage. It was very cold outside last night, but I stayed nice and warm, had plenty of space to work and felt zero frustration working on the car. Really enjoyed it...

Anywho, mother's Skoda Fabia VRS kept not starting, no turning of the starter motor at all. Eventually she got stranded yesterday so quick bit of research pointed to the starter motor trigger cable, otherwise known as the starter motor cable of death.

The cable snaps right in the connector, in this case where there was literally nothing left inside the connector to even solder on to. So temporary fix with an extra piece of cable and space connector until I source a replacement proper connector.

Common problem that, mine stranded me in the supermarket car park a few months ago. Bloke from the RAC used to be a Skoda tech and bodged a fix with some spade connectors and a bit of wire. It was in the middle of the wire under the battery tray, rather than the connector, but I'm on the older ASZ engine. It's still holding, so haven't had it fixed properly yet!

Sounds just like my fix.

If it was mine I'd leave it and only fix to sell.. but it's my mom's so I want to ensure she doesn't get stranded with my nan on a very cold day again. Although it'll teach her to cancel her breakdown cover. :p

After having Ballast issues with the Z4 Xenon headlights, which made me fall out of love with the car due to the whole scenario being a right PITA and not drive it since the times I need it is early in morn and late afternoon which are dark and need headlights.

Finally fixed gave it a good wash and cleaned the month's worth of mank of my CSL rep alloys, and went for a good drive.

Instantly fell in love with the car again :)

Spent 3 mins defrosting the door to get in, then flat battery. Cold snap has killed it off, it began showing sings of poor starting last week.

Alternator is working fine, battery showed only 12.4V after my 20 minute drive to work. New Bosch battery ordered :)

-Jump leads worth their weight in gold today!

Will be giving the door seals a good coating of that pfledge stuff.

lovely glo on the manifold.

Yeah, I liked that :D

That must be ridiculously quick

Lol, erm yeah it doesn't hang about that's for sure.

Has to be one of the only Astras I'd want to be seen in. Must be good for not far off 400bhp with some proper mapping?

They recon it's got about 20bhp more to give from a map. I'm running a GT28RS which is supposedly only got for 350bhp anyway, so I'm not expecting too much more. I don't need more power anyway, it's pretty bonkers as it is.

Not really today, but I've been holding off posting this as it is a controversial choice to post in Motors...

I never really gelled with the MINI Cooper S. It was fun when you wanted to throw it around some country lanes, and you miraculously managed to not find any traffic, but for the daily commute it was just too compromised. Add in the fact the Prince N14 engine has lots of known design issues, and mine was occasionally making some expensive sounding noises, I decided to swap it for something different.

As such I have got myself something more comfortable, practical, newer, more economical, lower VED, more toys, and a good dose of controversy.
Behold the beast:

Yes, I did pay money for it.
Yes, I do like it.
No, I don't care that you hate it.
:p

Fitted the winter set of wheels yesterday to the Starlet GT. Rattle-canned satin black Scrota Slipstreams; only just started flaking off now, not bad for a quick spray done about 4 years ago!

Wow :D That's an interesting choice! I would get your flame suit ready

I think it looks kind of cool and no doubt drives well, my old DS3 did.

Technically not done today but not been around to upload.

Changed from standard cloth in my C200k to sport leather seats and door cards.
