** POTENTIALLY THE BEST GAMING MONITORS YET!! ** Acer 34" Ultra-wides

Really tempted by this especially if there are good deals on Thursday. I currently have a BenQ 32" 2560 x 1440 and am concerned about reduced height of the viewing area and the performance hit. On the plus side - g-sync and better image quality with no tearing etc. I live too far away from OC to drive up and have a look at one in the flesh. As anyone taken the plunge with a similar upgrade?

Just jumping on the bandwagon here to say how much I love mine X34 still. No problems with it, will probably have to get it on a bracket so it can go back 1.5ft on my desk otherwise my head is nearly 'in' it.

'Perfect' : make (something) completely free from faults or defects; make as good as possible.

Don't see why people have such a hang up about the word perfect. Or seem to think that monitors should get some special dispensation. If we stopped buying the fAulty turds, the lazy manufacturers might sit up and take note.

I agree, but "faulty turds" is a bit OTT! Maybe you should try one out and see what you think? You can always return it if you don't like it. It's a common thing online unfortunately where most users ignore 95% of good reviews, and obsess over the one that didn't get on with it as well.

I haven't had a single problem with mine since I got it, I think it's absolutely fantastic!

Arrived today and all good,

  • Overclocks to 100Hz

  • no dead pixels

  • no obvious BLB

  • IPS glow as expected and better than my previous panel (ASUS PB278Q)

Just got it setup so off to play about with it

Old - (ASUS PB278Q)

I have the Asus PB278Q as well, was it worth the upgrade?

Night and day, massive upgrade worth every penny. Just put the asus back on the arm as i have someone round to buy it tonight. Looks very sorry for itself beside the x34 :p

If you're going to keep both, I'd maybe say no. If you're going to sell the 278Q on and make some money back, then yes, without hesitation. :)

The only thing bugging me lately is the BLB, my bottom left corner is terrible and the top left is tolerable.. I don't notice it 99% of the time, but when I'm watching a movie in bed and a dark scene comes on it irks me somewhat :/

Just picked mine up from OcUK and it's *awesome* !!! I absolutely love it :D

- Overclocks to 100 no problem

- Very little IPS Glow/Bleed

- No dead pixies

- Sleeps fine :)

Gonna give it a thrashing later with SW:BF ;)

Can anyone with this monitor view this page and let me know if they get a wine coming off there screen please. Only does it when full screen and if I highlight enough of it, the noise goes away.

Played around with lost of settings and I cant get rid of it. Only thing I can do is if I change the refresh rate of the screen to 30hz it changes tone slightly. Guess I have got a slightly messed up screen in the end. Thought I had solved it by muting the internal speakers :(
I have a Freesync version.

Edit: Just uploaded a crapy video here http://community.acer.com/t5/Predat...ad-ATTN-Acer/m-p/398470/highlight/false#M2134, turn you sound up and you can hear it. Phone didn't pick it up to well and made my PC fans far nosier then they should be. I would also recommend people keep an eye on that topic if you are interested in the Free sync version in case this is an issue with the design or a select number of units.

Is the freesync version overclockable?

I really can't decide if I should go superwide or not, I was gonna get the MG279Q but this has much more screenspace.
