Windows 10 for Phone

Running latest build 10586 (1511), so anyone else who is using this build.

I suppose particularly on the 830 but if not could someone with say a 640 try to switch to the front facing camera in the stock Camera app please? Every time I try to switch I get an error message that "Something went wrong", crashes to the home screen and FCs the Camera app...

No problem with my 640 camera app on the 1511 build. Can switch from rear to front and back again no problem.

Thanks for this Shoei, I suppose it could be just an 830 thing. It might be just my handset, I went from 8.1 update 2 through to 10581 and didn't hard reset, afterwards I went to 10586 and still haven't hard reset, for the most part it is working well, I just don't want to go through setting it up again.....

plus the last time I reset my 830 on a win10 install I then lost glance control and most of the controls under 'Extras'

Took the plunge and updated to the new W10M Preview (Fast Ring) on my 640XL.

Everything is working fine apart from one major one: Bluetooth profile , AVRCP 1.3 only, even then it's not working properly as my car head unit can't keep track of the music 'tracking' nor can it control such as "pause, skip etc"

On WP8.1, there's AVRCP 1.4, which is awesome and a godsend for me, as I can control and even browse my music list (despite the bug where deleted music folder still remains).

What a load of balls on MS part to take steps forward and a then a step back. Argh.

Thankfully Cortana still works and vocal commanding her to play isn't bad.

Settings > System > Display and then change the size of text from our default of 200% to 175%, it will want a reboot. Afterwards you will have updates in the store, I have 21, every time you alter the text size it has loads of updates in the store. Good thing though is 5 toggles in the notification centre and double height multitasking and things obviously just fit more on screen, although not the start screen. My eyes are not so good so keep it on 200%...

How did you get to 10586? Have you hard reset?

However you got there can you switch to the front facing camera in the default camera app? Mine keeps crashing. If you can check I'd appreciate it

I just let the update do what I did and reboot my phone at 3am (lit the whole damn room with its 'cogs' animation thinngy) by the morning (and 3 reboots) it was running!

I don't want to do a reset as I might loose all the controls under 'Extras' like I've done before (Glance, Motion Data etc...)

Here's two separate photos, I switched to Front camera twice... no crashing!!!

got the latest release on my 640 and haven't had any issues. its better than the last build!! that was terrible my phone wouldn't unlock and took ages to do anything.

Just picked up the Lumia 640 for $39 ( !!! ) new no-contract to try my hand with Windows Phone. It's a pretty nice phone fairly impressed so far for the price.

Immediately got it onto Windows Insider and on the fast ring and upgraded to Windows Phone 10.

Soon as I get my unlock code from AT&T (free) I'll be using it as a daily to see how I get on. Currently my ZTE ZMAX has epic battery life so the 640 will be having some tough competition.

EDIT: And it just dawned on me that I don't know what to do about google hangouts as I use the video calling and IM all the time with that. D'oh!

Thanks for checking, so that is a 640 and 830 user reporting back that theirs is OK, ah well I'll just hope for an update to the camera app that fixes it. I've reported it in the feedback app, found it already reported and up-voted.

I found that when going into fast ring insider preview on my 640 it wasn't picking up my Hotmail account properly. I had to reset the phone and now it works fine.

Does anyone know how I get Here maps working?
When I go toopen it it says I need to update it, but cant see how to do this!

If windows 10 doesn't work properly on my 1320, I may upgrade to one of the newer models. Definitely want to stick to windows phones, love them

Go to app store and update it.
Actually does here maps even work on wp10, isn't it replaced with the inbuilt map(which is here maps, transport and satnav all in one)

yea Ive used android for years and the 640 is my first windows phone and I must admit I wouldn't go back to android I prefer the windows phone now.

I did try an older windows phone but I couldn't live with it and rooted it to android.. but that was the old htc hd2

There is a bug in the current HERE maps causing this issue. Just use the Maps app instead, it's all the same map and routing data just with a different interface.

I had a problem with HERE maps not updating but it fixed itself/MS patched something and now its fine. Much prefer HERE to any other maps, same with HERE Drive.

The built in map is here maps, drive, transport. Just combined with a new UI. I expect you'll see the separate here apps end soonish.
