msigtx980 4g to msi gtx980ti 6g is it worth it?

Why are you still doing that crap?

You already posted a titan x graph getting 42fps way earlier in thread. You seem hell bent on proving that the most expensive cards on market are fastest. Everyone knows this.

Its 30fps (perfectly adequate for a strategy game) vs 42 fps. (still nowhere near 60 fps and a visually unnoticeable difference without monitoring)

If you want to be useful then the least you could do is compare the actual card that the thread is all about (msi) . Picking a kingpin edition is giving you the very best scenario for you to gauge your weird argument on.

I think you are taking things out of perspective.

I used the only model of 980 Ti I own, if I had a MSI one I would have used that.

The other thing you need to remember is the Kingpin on air is much the same performance as the other 980 Ti's.

amigafan2003 has a reference 980 Ti that is quite a bit faster than either of mine, perhaps he may want to give the game a run and post a score.

Right guys even I don't agree with Kaapstad, however it is pointless to keep arguing back and forth.

I think it's now the op's choice what he wants to do with his card, he has all the information he needs to either get a 980 ti or keep his 980 GTX :)

Basing a card on the absolute hardest game out there to max at the moment seems a bit redundant anyway. You don't decide not to buy a car because it can't do the ring in 7 mins, when all you need is something to commute in. If he plays Atilla Total war then fair enough but for most if not all other games a 980 would be absolutely fine.

I personally don't see the gains on a Ti to be equal to the cost increase, which is why I opted for a SLI 980 solution. I game at 1440p and I have had no issues in titles such as Witcher 3, Fallout 4 or Battlefront.

He does play Attila and also Witcher 3, the other games he mentioned are less demanding.

In that case then I reluctantly have to agree with a 980Ti, as I wouldn't find 30 fps average playable, especially given it is an average so you would be less than 20 at times. This is of course if the OP wants to max the game without compromise.

All he would need to do would be to drop some AA in that game and he would then be golden with a 980 :p All the others are fine on a 980 :D

Sorry, couldn't resist :o

Total war engine is massively cpu dependant. A two second Google shows this.

http://forums.totalwar.com/showthread.php/150191-CPU-or-GPU

To quote someone in that link...

"I've said in other threads when I switched from a 660gtx ti, to a R9 290x (which is roughly twice as fast) I only got a few extra framerates in battles (around 10), and almost no FPS boost on campaign map, and the campaign map leans on CPU power even more than the battles do."

So im not sure 980 to 980ti is really gonna blow his mind and justify 200 quid.

Perhaps but it all depends on how anal the OP is when it comes to maxing games :)

Very true that and it would help the debate if he was to say what he is happy to do. If money isn't a problem, he should just go for the 980Ti and then grab Pascal when that is out.... Heck, that is what I would do but I am anal (or like anal) :D

ty everyone for the input .in many ways it has helped others confusrd my aim has always been to keep my pc relevant as much as possible to improvements in games and gaming and hopefully a certain amount of forward future use.but I know now that for the 900 generation I should not have changed in april but waited a few more months.at that time (april) my msi gtx770 4g was struggling with dragon age inquisition and more recent titles so it thought it would be a good time to change to the gtx980.and then low and behold NVidia announced the gtx980ti after me purchasing lol .still nvm maybe as others have said see how pascal plays out possiblt gtx1000 ti lol .anyways thankyou everyone much appreciated
