What have you done to your car today?

Today I watched the windscreen man pull up, inspect my car then inform me that unfortunately, as he feared, he'd been supplied the correct windscreen - but not a special rubber seal for it that the GT86/BRZ uses. As a result, he can't couldn't change the screen today. He reported back to head office who phoned me later and informed me that the earliest they could get the seal was next Friday.

Luckily I'm on a half day that day, but I'm back to work next week so will have to drive it after all. But still bloody annoying :/

At least he wants to do it properly. Plenty of people in the trade would have quite happily used one of a couple of different types of universal trims available to us. I had a similar situation with an RX7 only at the time I was being told by the office to use a universal, in the end I spoke to someone different and got the correct trim ordered from Mazda, customer was more than happy to wait if it meant the job was done properly ( I was quite honest and open about how I felt about bodging something like an RX7 (especially a very good condition, unmolested example)

Diagnosed the leak in my E46 screenwash, it's the drivers side headlight nozzle.

Picked up the parts from BMW today, £40 later...

I bet the part is simple, barely anything to it and just left you wondering where your eyeballs were before realizing that BMW took them?

Serviced my sisters car, washed mine!

Did the following to her car:

New spark plugs
Oil change + Filter
Checked coolant and brake fluid
Greased up all hinges, bonnet catch
Check all bulbs
Changed windscreen wipers
Changed air filter and pollen filter
Checked and fixed loose connection causing air bag warning

All of this on a 2014 car...!

Indeed. He actually seemed a little annoyed that the trim hadn't been supplied with the glass as he'd been informed it should be and said he wanted to ensure the job was up to scratch on such a nice car. So, miffed though I was, I was also kind of glad he was quite open about not being able to do the job properly.

I gather you do this for a living, who for if you don't mind me asking?

Go on then, whats the story? There must be a reason why you'd do all that to a 2014 car?

Has it done 60k in 12 months or something?

I'll drop you a trust, I keep who I actually work work unknown as anything I post on the matter is my personal views not company views.

At least you got one of the better guys, look at the fiasco mrk had with his M3, and that was a technician that would have had a lot more skill/experience than me and I wouldn't have left it with the issues he had.

This was yesterday, but I took it to BMW to have the airbag recall carried out. They originally gave me an estimated time of 90 minutes, but it took just under half that. They washed it as well which was a tad annoying, especially considering it had only been driven 25 miles since I washed it and it was still clean - I was hoping they'd see that and not bother. I was reminding myself all week to tell them not to bother washing it, then I forgot when I was there :o

Also had a headlight washer leak on my E46 last winter. Barely touched the washers over the spring/summer and the last two times I've used the washers it hasn't started leaking despite the headlights being washed as well, but I'm sure the leak will be back.

Finally replaced the last non led bulbs on the car :D

Handed over the car to MRC Tuning and the git's gave me a bright red 1.4 Chevy Kalos with a whole 92hp in return! With me not being the smallest of folks, if the roof was yellow it'd look like one of those Fisher Price cars with a fat man trapped inside or something from Mario Kart :D

Mine should be back by Christmas Eve if all goes well but I'm already having issues with the turbos taking longer than expected to be modified.

Hi,

Got rear ended tonight while stationary. Old guy in a Corsa, that seemingly faired far better than my rear did. Given he was able to knock me forwards and I turned left to avoid hitting a Mini in front (who ended up being my witness), I don't think he touched the brakes very hard at all.

He was also driving with no lights on.

You all want to see pics, here, weep with me.

My exhaust tips look fine (phew), the exhaust has been knocked back though, so if it's damaged, then a new backbox is gonna be needed, and/or centre section. The boot wall is what concerns me the most. Remember the old E46 that I drove over a rock on a mate's driveway? That car needed 2 tonnes of pulling force to restore the frame and looked worse off, so I'm hoping the insurer's body shop can pull off some magic here, because damned if it gets written off.

Other party has already admitted liability, and is with Admiral Group, so everything is nearly sorted, just waiting for the hire car details tomorrow morning.
