Maybe, but unlike stuff like the Millennium Falcon, UCS Shuttle etc. it seems to have been in production for a lot longer, so there will be more sets "out there". Not sure how unique the minifigs you get with it are, but if they are set-specific and due to the amount of them, that might go a long way to making the price creep up.

Normally I get an itch when a big set approaches retirement, but to be honest I've never really been a fan of this particular Death Star model. I much prefer 10143.

I agree it has been out for a long time. But I do think it will double or even treble in price.

Excuse my ignorance but is there somewhere i can buy all the parts to build this? I checked out bricklink briefly (at work) but it seemed like a site to buy and sell lego.

I really want to build this!

Takes a while to learn bricklink IMO - I watched a couple of youtube vids to work it out.

I found Lego pick a brick not much use collecting the bits.

Brickefficiency was very useful although I've heard a couple of instances where folk couldn't get it to work. BE needs you to have a bricklink account so it can link to your wanted list. It needs care as it's not always correct and can catch you out with the odd overpriced piece.

10179 isn't a cheap build.

Yeah I think it will treble but take a long while to get there and only for boxed versions as so many people have put these aside. Anyway who say's it's retiring? On the lego site all the sets marked to be going soon are, but the death star isn't one of them. You can find rumours of it being retired every year since 2008!

It's on the "retiring soon" search and has also been reported by several sites

Ah right I was looking on the tabbed view of them all and it said hard to find but not retiring until you go into the product. I had seen it reported by a few sites but i had seen them say that before. Oh well it's official then. Shame it's a brilliant set.

Some of those retiring haven't been about long but I can see why they have.

Mos Eisley, Ghost are terrible sets. Glad I got him a Wookie gunship when the price bottomed out. Now if only Toysrus will reduce the hellicarrier again before xmas so I don't have to dump full asking on it

I already have a built one in my lounge. Tempted to buy 2 or 3 for resale. Bound to be a good investment.

Was in the Lego shop when in New York and when I saw this I had to buy it. I like politics, and it's a good memento of my holiday.
The first Lego I've built in probably 15 years! It was good fun, and probably going to try and get another Architect one for Christmas.
Good fun for two hours and the attention to detail is really good.

They're usually all over the place so I'd give them 24 hours to email before bothering to call.

In Toys Я Us Gloucester today they had free mini Lego x-wings. You pick up the pieces and bag them yourself, it was fun, I was doing it with someone's cool 70 something grandmother

Love the lego architecture range, just wish some of them were a little bigger. Bought a lego architect book on the rainforest site and its got some great buildings in there with a lot more detail.
