**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

I had a couple of settlers spend a whole day trying to walk through a wall into the new shopping centre and pub I'd built. The entrance was a few yards around the corner.

I also had one stuck on the bottom step of the few steps up to the entrance, just bobbing up and down a little as they tried and failed to step up from the ground to the steps. I had to order them to step away and replace the steps with a very short ladder. It turns out that settlers can't understand a 6 inch gap.

The funniest glitch I've had so far was the pack brahmin that somehow managed to end up stuck in the ruined roof of one the buildings in Sanctuary. There is no access to that roof unless you can jump from ground level to it or climb to the roof of a nearby 3 storey building and jump down and across to the roof. Who knew brahmin were such extraordinary jumpers?

It's Bethesda. Glitches are to be be expected.

Yeah had all of them. One of my shopkeepers is stuck in a two story building trying to walk out via a wall and obviously getting nowhere. I had a Brahmin clipped and stuck in a tato plant - I had to destroy the plant via the console to free the muppet.

Angilion, question for yourself I believe.
I now have all settlements working, outfitted and defended, though clearly not aswell as yourself.
I still have a continual pair of missions from Preston to assist settlements, either due to them being hassled by bad guys, or due to a kidnapping.
Do you get the same? I did think that this was normal.

There is a mod to disable these repeating quests.

Its what's known as a Radiant quest. You can always keep doing them as a way to get experience and caps. Other factions have something similar.

TIL how to harvest Mirelurk Eggs without getting swarmed by the little hatchling buggers...

Everyone probs knows this, just like with the squishy face part I only discovered last week, but if you approach the 'nest' of eggs, some of them will wobble (typically half the number of eggs in the nest, from my exploration of the Gwinnett Brewery) - shoot those eggs and the rest can be harvested.

Tasty eggs with none of the hatchlings.

So far, I only have 4 settlements that heavily defended and only 2 of those (Sanctuary and Starlight) are completely walled with concrete walls ~20 feet high apart from the main gate. Which makes the turrets irrelevant, really, as nothing can get in anyway. I'm working through settlement development slowly. Even more so now that I've removed the settlement size cap. I'm almost always out of wood. I don't have all the settlements working yet.

I notice that other people have already answered that question (it's normal, a way to continue getting xp and loot), but I have one for you:

Do you know how to get settler happiness to 100? I'm stuck at 85 in my best settlements. They have a large surplus of food, water and security and a few spare beds. They have a shopping centre with 6 shops, comfy chairs, sofas, tables, decorations, etc. All lit, of course, and with the classical music from the jukebox. There's even a pet brahmin or two ambling around by their feed trough. I don't know what I can do to increase their happiness. I'd like to give every settler a couple of rooms and some privacy, but I haven't been able to find a way to build interior walls in the rather poorly implemented settlement building we have.

Of course you didn't know this. The game goes out of it's way to hide some very basic things from you!

I quite like it this way. Its a fairly complex game in places so there is no way they can explain everything. Its nice when you realise things/work things out/people tell you little features. :)

Sorry, no idea how you get above 85. My best settlement is at 81, but then all I've done is ensured that each place has sufficient beds, good, water and defence. I made pretty much zero effort to entertain and none of them have lighting.

Couple of guides around on how to get it higher but other than an achievement for 100 it seems to have no benefit. :)

The only method I could find mentioned was to build and staff as many shops as possible in a settlement. Every settler a shopkeeper apart from the minimum number required as farmers, e.g. 3 farmers producing 18 food and 15 shopkeepers in tier 3 shops.

I'm not interested in doing it for in-game benefits or achievements. I have no idea what, if any, achievements I have. Since I play with Steam in offline mode, some achievements don't register anyway, as far as I know.

I'm interested in it for roleplay - I'm being a benevolent dictator to my settlers, playing as if it was real. Which rules out the silly shop scenerio, above. Right now, I'm hunting around for a number 4 pool ball because the pool table in the pub in Sanctuary doesn't have one. There's a second cue ball standing in for the 4 ball (I've found dozens of cue balls), but it would be nicer for the settlers to have the proper set.

Anyone know of a fix for the terminal hacks not working, I click and since the patch it doesn't open terminal. I've deleted all mods and reshades etc, and tried the iHeight and iWidth trick?

Finally completed it today, 73 hours in total, including my false start as a melee build.

Not sure what to do now, retry as unarmed, or finally get around to trying NV again...

Wow, I done 109 hours and barely touched the main quest line. Think it is going to see the detective now, when I get around to it. Just recently at lvl 28 done the Castle quest for the Minuteman's. :o

Did you do any sidequests at all or just blized through it ?? :D

I almost replied to you earlier wondering how you managed that many hours and only just got there as I'm level 27 now and got to that quest a little while ago with about 40 hours. Then I went to sanctuary and thought, why don't I just put some light here and the next thing I know 3 hours have passed.

Yes, the Settlement thing do take some time. And having around 12 of them or so adds up. :p Although, not all of them are maxed out, I just put radio tower on a couple of them (those that needed through the quest line) and resently turned them all off as well, due to taking bit to much time. :o Just gonna sort out The Castle then continue with some quests again. Really need to find a mod that changes the spawn time on Raiders and the like though, they seem to pop back faster the rabbits populations.
