What have you done to your car today?

Fitted a new jet for the headlamp washer (drivers side) as I had a leak, that was emptying the tank after 12 or so hours.

Two minute job, which seems to have fixed the issue.

Also cleaned the car :) Probably for the last time this year.

Out with the old...

In with the new.

A full set of new boots.

Took the Trabant out for a wee drive to keep it ticking over. Roads are starting to get icy so had some interesting moments. Always an adventure in that wee thing.

Sorry if I asked this last time, but what are you running it on? Has it been converted to proper fuel? :p

It turns out that Hastings also use Nationwide Motorglass as their second preferred supplier. Explained the situation and they put me through directly to them instead. Have got an appointment booked Tuesday - AutoWindscreens next appointment was a week later :/

Explicitly mentioned the special window moulding to them as well and asked them to ensure all the correct parts would be available.

And you were right, did a bit of searching around, £500 seems about right for my screen.

Finally got the new windscreen fitted today. It was due to be Tuesday, but there was still a little bit of faffing. I decided to email the girl dealing with my enquiry asking her just to make sure that the technicians were aware that my car required a bespoke trim for the Tuesday booking.

On Monday she phoned me and told me that she'd spoken to the technician who was aware of the issue and told her that ideally both the glass and the seal need to come direct from Toyota, and she'd need to authorise that with Hastings before proceeding, providing I'm OK with waiting a couple of days to get OEM glass? Yes, of course I'm fine with that :)

Tuesday, she phones me again, authorisation secured, glass/seal ordered from Toyota, appointment re-booked for today, Thursday, between 8AM-5PM.
This morning she gave me a courtesy call to inform me the technician was due between 12-2PM.
At just gone midday, the technician phones me and turns up within the hour, right in the middle of the ETA.

Polite, friendly, knew about the issue with the OEM seal (he'd done a GT86 before). Took him and his assistant no more than 20 minutes to replace the glass without any signs of damage, all trim and scuttles properly reattached. Drove the car home a few hours later in heavy rain and no signs of leaking or anything like that.

So, from gross incompetence to having the issue dealt with within a week by someone with experience and using a proper OEM screen, and all the while kept informed by the same contact in the office who was friendly and went the extra mile to make sure I was happy.

tl;dr - New windscreen.
Auto Windscreens = crap.
Nationwide Motorglass = excellent :)

Had a second Remap done, this time I had a custom Remap done by a Alive tuning :) still running stage 1 but the blanket increase has been made into a smoother curve and the power delivery is so much smoother! Egr has also been deleted. Wallet is bit sore but I'm very happy with the results. It will be on the dyno in January for a readout and some minor tweaking and sports button tweaks

Finally got around to changing the spark plugs and lambda sensor on the Impreza (intermittent EML).

The more work I do to this car the more I love it. The engine bay may look pretty cramped but it's unbelievably easy and enjoyable to work on.

Also noticed that the EBC Yellowstuff pads on the front are in need of replacement... thank god! Ridiculous amount of brake dust from those things.

Tried to fit my airhorn but it started raining before I could take the bumper off. Not many places to hide a Stebel Nautilus :D

Renewed insurance with Greenlight. £400 full comp with mods declared which includes fitting of the turbo sat on the work bench (upto 180BHP and another £50-£100 to up that to 250BHP)

Got my MX-5 serviced and MOT'ed today. New brake pads but everything else passed. Also took the opportunity to test drive the ND. They only had the 1.5L but it was surprisingly fun.

Gave the ST220 a service today, oil, filters, plugs, leads and new coil pack. What a ballache it was removing the intlet mani to get to the rear plugs
