*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

I haven't participated in a CG for a long time, but I seem to remember it sometimes taking a while to register contributions; tried the old log out and back in?

I will have a look now cheers.

Edit:

Not showing yet but might need some time.

The Robigo runs, is the payout intended for each mission? I've been getting 1m to 3.5m credits per mission depending on whether its a normal cargo mission or illegal cargo.

I "hope" it is intended and we are going to see more of this sort of thing. It makes for a very fun round trip every time trying to avoid the feds and pirates.

Would like to see it expanded upon. Larger amounts of cargo, larger threat, bigger payouts. Maybe even to the point where the missions can only be done in a wing of 1 carrier and 2/3 defenders with the profits being split over the wing on completion.

Just getting back into Elite following a month off to play Fallout.

Anyone else here anywhere near Maikoro and fancy buddying up sometime?
Secondly, how do I respond to messages in space. Sometimes I'm in supercruise and get a message of "please follow me so we can talk....". I've no idea how to follow them.

Usually means they have dropped out of supercruise and left a wake for you to drop into, usually a white marker on your radar. Target it and approach it as you would a station/USS etc. You only normally see these when being a different way to complete a mission you might be carrying

Welcome back to the game :)

It might pay for you to join a private group with loads of players and no griefers like Mobius. I joined up and it has made the game better for me. It is strange being at a military strike and a fellow Mobius player is on the opposite side but neither of you attack each other but I like that.

Anyways, if you are interested, have a look here:

Sorry, should have been a bit more specific. What I've really enjoyed in online gaming coop has been the banter over Skype. Is that common in mobuis players?

I've really been wanting to get this. I've always been a big fan of space type games and used to play Freelancer back in the day. I've been keeping an eye on both this and Star Citizen, but that still seems far away until official release, so I might just bite the bullet and go for this.

Is the game easy enough to get to grips with? Or is there a steep learning curve? As for controls, would I be better off using a controller initially or should I just go for something like a H.O.T.A.S?

I say go for it, christmas deals are around the corner you'll be able to get it for under £10. It's impossible to not get your money worth out of elite. It's just the potential of it leaves people bitter about it.

Can someone who has played the beta give me the low down on the SCB/heat changes.

Are SCBs still useful or is it a case of using one at once and having to fire off heat sinks as well.

Lastly - what's with the bi-weave shields ?

Cheers !

I can't comment for the SCBs as I haven't got into any scraps in the Beta and concentrated on the planets and landings but the Bi-Weave shields regenerate quicker but are not as durable.

Super excited for the official launch tomorrow :)

Yep, can't wait for full release tomorrow. I have my Asp all explorer'd up and ready for my first proper mission into the darkness :) Now the AFM repairs the canopy and you can restock the AFM from materials, it should be possible to stay out there for quite a while :D

Sadly though, Horizons finally saw off my 7850 and it's measly 300w psu companion.

I've never spent £330 on a game before (GTX970, 600w PSU and the beta access) lol.

Still, it runs fine and dandy at 60fps/ultra/1080p now so I'm a happy chappy. I'd rather that than drop quality settings to play at 1440p.

I think the 970 should push this out at 1440p at max settings... at least I thought mine did. I have a 144hz monitor and i use DSR up to 1440p and its still going 100+. Unless I remembering wrong. I am only on regular Elite still though..
