new car being delivered, what to check?

My old boss had a similar thing, ordered his new E class Merc in silver with grey interior...it turned up 12 weeks later in silver with black interior. He flat-out rejected it and the lease company had to order another one with the right colour combo.

Sounds like they were doing him a favour, grey never looks good imo.

But its not even his car, I assume he didn't pay cash, so its effectively a rental.

Seriously what the hell is wrong with people at the moment?

Thousands of pounds will be changing hands, possibly 10s of thousands - regardless of who owns the damn thing, it's perfectly normal and acceptable to reject something thats not what you ordered.

They will still be paying the same amount for the car (or probably a bit more) as had they bought the car outright or on Finance and sold it after 2/3 years. Also, in case you didn't know, options are still covered in full when you lease a car. Rental, lease, PCP, PCH - you are still responsible for the car until sold or you had it back.

Fair enough, probably needs to have a chat with himself through.

I think you need to have a chat with yourself, God forbid someone wants what they ordered.
I mean really how dare they, should just take what they're given and be thankful they're not living in a box!

:D

OP, robj20 is right on checking the spec is correct. I know certainly on Briskoda there's a concerning number of people waiting months for a factory order, then realising xyz is missing or wrong on the car. Another occasional one is 'rock hard suspension' where the person doing the PDI failed to remove the transport blocks! I'm sure it'll be fine, enjoy the new motor (which is what, btw?). :)

GOLF GTD 2.0 Diesel, 2015, standard options, reflex silver (couldnt wait for the limestone 12wk wait)

Slam62 sounds like the type of person to go to a restaurant order something and when he gets something different he will eat it without saying anything. Then when gets home he will leave a negative review on how he did not get what he wanted, in upper case.

Anyways on topic:

Check the spec
Check there is no external damage to the car
Check fluids

Wrong, I never give reviews

Make sure it's Supergaurded as that's a must have. I'd also get some gap insurance but pay no less that 500 quid as less won't be as good.

I could not believe my dealer just added it to my invoice without asking me. Not only that they added £2k to my bill because they accidentally under charged me ex wife on a car I bought for her a year ago.

Safe to say I'm going to be making friends with a new dealer and will be ordering from them in the future.
