Oops. Went into the local Lego store to buy the Tumbler. Came out with the UCS TIE fighter as well :D

Also got two more Gingerbread houses, that's 4 now.
2 more calendars again that's 4.
And C3PO minifigure.

The gingerbread houses are perfect Christmas presents ;)

I really REALLY want the LEGO Super Heroes: Marvel SHIELD Helicarrier!!!

£270

Someone help me justify it!

Because you need it / job done.

And if not people will just post pictures here and you'll get lego envey and end up sad deppressed and one day you'll be on top of a building rope in hand screaming how you should have bought that lego model

Ok maybe thats abit far but still

I am a silent observer to this thread. I loved Lego as a kid and still do. I do have some expensive habits though (PC gaming and mountaineering) and my wife will not justify me spending on something else that she considers is child's play.

What the hell does she know ? :)

So I did the next best thing. Got my 7 year old son into it. I can live my love of Lego through my wife continually rubber stamping lego kits that he wants to buy. We make them together!

I don't like it, it should've been made in the essence of the UCS falcon but because it's a Marvel Lego, it's gone a bit too much of a play thing and not a display model. So whilst it's great for children, I don't think it looks that great.

Save your money and get a Red Five and Tie Fighter, you can probably get them for around £300 together.

I think the Helicarrier is rubbish, as you say it looks too much like a toy. If they did a UCS version with a fancy plate and whatnot I'd be all over it.

My favourite Marvel set is the Tumbler by far, it's just such a great set in the flesh.

Also, we just got back from Vegas and they have a LEGO shop there, the prices in dollars are pretty much what we pay in pounds :(

Tower Bridge was less in dollars than what I paid in squids!

The Helicarrier is about as much a display piece as you can get. In the same way if I got my son the UCS falcon he would be using that as a toy. That would make a better toy than the little crappy fall to bits if you fart in their direction falcons they currently make. I wasn't taken on the Helicarrier when it came out, until I saw one built in the lego store. It's a thing of beauty and I don't care much for Marvel.

The UCS falcon looks like a toy, because that's what it is.

I disagree.

For one thing, the helicarrier is out of scale within itself, it's not big enough for the size of the figurine. I mean the figurine is the height of the tiny planes on it! It's miles off where as the falcon is much much closer. All the bright colour pieces and the avenger logo also puts it firmly in the toy category IMO.

As for "as much as a display piece as you can get" I think that would apply for something like the 10221 SSD.

Having now seen the new Star Wars film, I am a little disappointed that the wings of Kylo Rens shuttle don't go into "flight mode". I thought maybe they could have extended downwards like the Imperial Shuttle.

Yeah, it doesn't open flat, it looks odd but I guess that also gives it its distinctive look.

Shame it isn't a UCS either.

Yeah there's been a lot of talk about that. The suggestion seems to be that perhaps Lego just weren't told that the ship did that, as they probably started working on those sets well over a year ago.

Also (don't open this spoiler if you haven't seen the new Star Wars film yet!):
Releasing Poe's X Wing as a set kinda spoiled a bit of the film as you knew he wasn't dead.

Re spoiler reply

I think I knew that from watching the trailer....that shot in the X-wing is in the trailer

True, the face on shot was in the trailer wasn't it.

I really want the Poe's X Wing model, even though it's just a tweaked version of the previous X Wing model which I already have.

None of the recent SW ships have really grabbed me. I've got the new Falcon because I missed out on the old one, and I have a B Wing and a random Rebel ship that was cheap. I'd actually like to try and get some of the previous ships like the Jedi fighters, Naboo ship and (don't punch me) a couple of Pod Racers :).

Hopefully the second round of Force Awakens sets brings some cool stuff, although nothing in the film made me think "I want that!".

Movie spoiler below

This shouldn't be a spoiler but in essence of what the topic is, I'll put it here. I remember this shot in the trailer so I knew he didn't die.

I am going to get the UCS Tie Fighter, that's one for the future definitely.

Not sure on the newer First Order toys, they are all smaller, all without a stand, more toy like and less display piece.
