I was replying to a poster that said the prequels were better, hence the :D

Sarcasm is quite difficult to potray in a forum. Need an iPhone laughing smiley.

thank god for that.

For people not liking the new film - i can understand that, it wasn't perfect but i did like it.
As for people liking the prequels - it baffles me that anyone with eyes can like such badly made drivel.

It baffles me how anyone can like ep 4 vs the prequels. But each to their own.

Lying to yourself there, similar. Was far more than similar.

It's similar because its not an exact copy hence why people are saying rehash and not remake and I wouldn't care too much even if it was a remake it was still enjoyable

It's flawed but watching it gave me the same feeling as when I watched the Original Trilogy, something that was definitely missing when I watched the Prequels.

It was a retelling in the same way he did to Kirk and Spock.
Familiar enough to a fan but some glaring changes/shortcuts that don't quite sit right.
Numerous plot holes that could have been patched up with 30 seconds of effort.
Too humorous? I laughed out loud at all the jokes, both times i've seen it, but they didn't feel "Star Warsy" just slapstick...

How was it a retelling the same as he did with Kirk and Spock? One was a remake of an old tv series/movies with the same characters, the other was a story set after previous events, introducing new characters while showing what happened to the old guard after we last seen them. Not even close to being the same thing.

I thought it was excellent.

TFA being very similar to the first three films might be to the new trilogy's advantage. Nobody can accuse TFA of not sticking to the original formula, which they have now exhausted, so everyone can be more open minded about new ideas next time around.

It amazes me how easily people are entertained.

It amazes me that that people feel the need to say "that feeling you had when you left the cinema (good or bad), well I think it's wrong to have that feeling and now I'm going to tell you why it's wrong in a condescending way which, after several days of this, will make you regret telling anyone how the film made you feel, BECAUSE IT'S CLEARLY WRONG!!!".

That's what you're doing.

I respect that you feel differently about the film but your constant belittling (like the quote) in both threads is starting to grate. You stated your opinion numerous times, now give the threads some room to breathe without metaphorically jumping on people who give a different opinion.

You took me way too literally. I was referring to what JJ / the writers did with Star Trek, nothing more or less. ep 7 has basically followed the same "script" its nuked off the whole of the republic same as they did in Star trek..

yes its 30 years later, but its reset the whole Star wars universe to be "whatever they want"

Its not bad its just change.. People dont like stuff they have grown up with for nealry 40 years to be changed.
