Hi, I'm soon going to be getting an SSD and windows 10.

Just wondering. (I will be disconnecting my current HDD during this process)
Does it matter where I plug the SSD into? are all SATA created equal? (my mobo is a Z97 PC Mate). Also, when It come to the boot order, will it have to be USB first (for windows 10 install) then SSD second? My BIOS setting also have all sorts of weird "EUFI" boot things in the order list that I really don't understand.

Just keen to hit the ground running when doing this.

Thanks.

put the ssd on the first sata port 0 I think, then select to boot from usb/once windows is installed add the other hdd's and select/set the ssd as first boot device

Thanks. Is that the case even if the HDD is currently in SATA0 ? Just swap it for the instal and then later plug the HDD into another sata.

just make sure the SSD is the only drive connected and it shouldn't matter which sata port you use.

i have mine in some random port and have no issues installing windows on to it.

OK thanks, was just checking incase some of the sata were faster than others. Obviously I want the SSD in the fastest possible "port"

All the ports should be equal unless your motherboard is sharing the bandwidth for certain ports but that would be documented in the manual.

Someone told me I need to do something with mobo settings when I install an SSD? is this true? something about the mobo needing to know that it is an SSD?
