Right - I need ideas !

I have mined, explored, HazRes milked and traded my way to 230million of assets in the form of a decently equipped tradeconda.

At the moment I just don't feel like hitting the 'play' button anymore.

Thought about joining the fuel rats for a bit of RnR - or might start hanging around the starting systems and giving out goodies for Xmas !

But I would love to hear about the longer term players sources of motivation....
 
There's nothing wrong with taking a break and playing something else until you feel the urge to log in again :)

Gregster, lovely shots, I do love the Asp, there is just something about it that appeals visually :)
 
I had a 2 month break and was in no rush to get back Hodders and I didn't feel like playing but enjoyed getting back in the cockpit after that time away and not really looked back since. If you are still wanting to play and want some ideas, try setting goals such as Elite in Combat/trade/explore, Admiral or King for Empire/Federation, aim for buying all the ships in the game or a decent fleet.

At the mo I am really enjoying exploring and this will sit well with me for a while and then I will be ranking up to buy the Cutter.

Cheers Dano, it is a great ship with some good jump distance as well and I don't get too much of "Route unavailable" :D That was the first time I had seen a sun with rings as well and now I just need to find a black hole and I will be made up :)

Spent the evening maffing around just trying to chill. Handed out some cargo to some cmdrs. One wanted more and chased me back towards the station and then opened fire right next to the station - he died - LOL.

But the gratitude of one player in a sidewinder was quite funny. He started to go on about it being the best game ever once he had worked out how to use chat.

Then messed around with turrets on some of the conda's hardpoints to deal with smaller ships.

Any suggested changes - the shields are pretty good even with an A5 generator and it frees up cargo. I've been interdicted a few times by up to 3 ships and not had any problem at all.

It like to be able to switch over to a bit of bounty hunting when I get bored of trading and would like to minimise the cost/hassle of changing the ship around to much.
 
I am surprised that build works and doesn't cook your ship lol but if it does, you have some good all round protection. And lol at the guy who chased you :D
 
Not played for a month or so and had to update at a painfully slow rate last night.
I have not bought Horizons yet but still have the planetary landing package installed on my ships. Is this just a redundant piece of equipment until I buy the update or is there limited stuff to do with it?
 
Redundant, unless you are entitled to Horizons due to being the right level of backer or owning the lifetime pass?

The xmas livestream has raised over £22 thousand now :eek:

I don't see the point of C modules since they are the same mass as A? I haven't played in a while but I would always either go A for the best or D for the jump range.

I may have edited your lineup, I would change the E modules to D for sure for less mass and I'd change C to A for more performance. If you reduce the amount of shield boosters you have you can get away with an 8D power plant which reduces weight further. Or mess about with power priorities to turn stuff off when hardpoints extend.

The reason I have C modules is the cost of the A modules is scary !

Ship doesn't cook too badly at all the only beams are Class 1 so not too thermic. Everything else is pulse.

Still not convinced that I really need the turrets with PvE but I've yet to be in a situation where I have a wing of eagles or vipers to deal with which is when I think they will help.
 
Getting slight miffed now. I have done nothing but explore for the last week and put some serious hours in but no damned Earth likes and not one black hole.... Ever :(

Earth-likes are pretty much just luck, although you can increase your odds a bit but searching mostly F, G and K-type stars.

I can probably tell you if there are any black holes close to your position if you want? I've found several hundreds if not thousands of the things. If you tell me what system you're in or even just the sector name (i.e. "FROAGS", "BYOI AEWSY", "PRO EURL" etc) I'll check if there are any near by (I've become rather adept at finding them :) ).

OOCHOXT? Sounds like something an angry Scotsman would say if he trod on a lego :p

You're heading in the "wrong" direction: the core is where all the interesting objects are, not the rim!

I found a fair few neutron stars in the area if those interest you? Not many black holes though. There is a black hole at OOCHOXT DL-Y G1 however, so that might be worth heading towards if you want to see a singularity up close.
 
Legend cheers and I have purposefully avoided watching vids with black holes so I could see one for myself and in VR :D
