SSD slow :(

so hows this rapid mode work can i use it whats the disadvantages? etc :)

it uses system resources like ram and cpu, if you click on rapid mode it will give you the requirements to run it.

I didn't notice any improvement with it on so left it off to save on resources

What is RAPID mode?

RAPID mode is paired exclusively with Samsung 840 EVO SSDs and available as a feature of the accompanying Samsung SSD Magician Software Toolset (version 4.2 and later). When enabled, RAPID mode is inserted as a filter driver in the Windows storage stack. The driver actively monitors all storage-related activity between and among the operating system, user applications and the SSD. The RAPID technology analyzes system traffic and leverages spare system resources (DRAM and CPU) to deliver read acceleration through intelligent caching of hot data and write optimization through tight coordination with the SSD.

I ran a quick test but doubt I'll be leaving it on... :p

I wasn't aware it even existed until this thread. If it made any real difference, everybody would be using/talking about it.

I don't come in here very often but if I saw this thread before I could have cleared it up straight away. I had the P7P55D-E Pro and the problem is indeed caused by the awful Marvell controller. I was getting speeds below half that of the Intel Sata 2 controller when using Marvell's so called Sata 3 solution. In short disable it and just use the Intel controller.

exactly what I did on my x58 board.

Marvel controller was getting 400mb read and 250mb write, I get 280mb read and write on the intel sata 2 ports and more stable lol

Thanks for the help guys :)

I shall use the intel controller and disable the crappy marvel one :P.

Im happy with the speeds at least its not a faulty ssd.

Thanks again all

the way I look at it is that when I do finally upgrade ill get a mobo with a intel controller and I know works fine at full speed lol
