Call of Duty 2015/Black Ops 3?

Thing is, there is dedicated servers around for PS4 / XB1 and they don't seem to make things better. COD's problems go beyond "just buy some dedicated servers"

My experience is that IW games have much better bit detection - not sure if that is linked to a faster ttk or not, but their games always seemed much more reliable than Treyarch games. With black ops 2 for me, the first couple of months were great (on my DSL line) but as soon as I got fibre, it went to ****.

Just finished this solo on realistic difficulty last night.

Easily the hardest COD since WaW.. possibly the hardest tbh.

I'd advise that if you're quick tempered or easily stressed.. just don't try it.

Quite a few sections I was stuck on for 2+ hours.. but that is the 9th COD done on the hardest difficulty.. Can't face COD 1 or 2 as I'd have to build a PC to play them lol

Anyone else done this yet?

I started it on realistic solo then decided it wasn't for me, it's just stupid. I've completed every other CoD on Veteran and I finished this one on Veteran.

I did start realistic in co-op but we never went back to it. It's just dumb that you can die in one bullet to your toe yet the enemies still take multiple shots.

We'll continue with it in Co op if you want? It will be pretty much impossible alone.

There also seems to be a problem with sniping in the game and the viability of using them.

I've been trying to get gold camo on the Locus and it's not been fun at all (as i don't have super human aiming abilities). I've found that unless you have the person dead in your scope, and you get the shot off really fast, you're dead (because of view kick). They are forcing you to quick scope to succeed, because the longer you take to aim, you're dead instantly. Also with all the boosting and jumping it's very hard to get on target, plus the maps are quite vertical and you can't check every corner.

If any thing game has been running better for me lately apart from odd bad game due to connection or simply other player is better than me.

I agree, the netcode full stop is poor in CoD games, but it is cheaper and easier to recycle it than develop a new one or switch to a different one.

I am not sure if it is a platform limitation regarding server tick rate / hit reg etc, or if it is simply lazy and profiteering development. I don't see any reason why they cant use 64 tick rate if the game is designed to run at 60FPS. That would go a long way to helping the lag issues. I don't see the point in producing a 60FPS game and making it run on 16 or 32 tick servers. It is clear that PC players are getting the better deal with proper dedicated servers (even though rumour has it they run at 32 tick which, if it is true, really is ****) where as console users appear to be lumbered with P2P / Hybrid P2P - Super Peers which I think we are expected to believe are dedis but they are not really proper dedis).

I think that FPS games need a robust server system due to the often low TTK and high ROF projectile data that needs to be processed. It is clear that CoD hasn't got it right and really needs a complete overhaul in both game engine and netcode. But as long as people keep throwing money at it, and I include myself in that, things won't change for the better.

Why will they try and fix it if it ain't broken, right? Profit is king and while they are making a killing they won't change the formula.

The netcode and MM in COD is utter garbage and needs sorting out properly.
The game engine they use is super old, has quite high inbuilt latency which just adds to the problems.
They need an actual new game engine and also need decent netcode. They need to do what DICE did for BF4 and have a team actively working on sorting out the problems. And have any fixes added to subsequent games. I don't understand why every COD launches with issues which takes months to fix and then the next game is the same.
They need localisation so you play with people in the same country. It's not like there are limited players for this game.

As for this hybrid system: It's rubbish. Assuming this game is the same as AW then they still use a lobby host. Which is why your actual connection seems to vary so much even though the ping stays the same.

Will we get fixes? Probably not. The game is still the best selling every year.

But Black Ops 3 has the lower engine latency out of all the CoD games.....

I rarely experience horribly laggy games.

You do get them, but only about 1/20

Far more prevalent ar the ones where the game seems to play fine and isn't stuttering around but you just feel like nothing hits and people are seeing you before you see them.

I'm not going to pretend to understand it, but it's not lag.

Its damn hard but very possible once you unlock extended active camo.

Then its a case of ducking, covering and waiting for a recharge.

You still can't just rush forward, as I found out myself, as the game checkpoints in some very harsh situations.

I was stuck on one point for 4 hours as I had rushed forward on Provocation to the point just after the first walking robot, destroyed it and ran straight in the building under camo, straight up the stairs towards the server room and it check pointed me on the stairs with a robot in front of me and a warlord behind me.

I then had to strafe jump right down a gap onto the floor below, where there was a robot in from of me, run forward and right round a corner then slide though a door way.

I must have died at least 70 times if not more..

There is obviously some clever stuff going on in the background of matchmaking. While I wont pretend to understand the actual programming I can understand why, when in a party, we can all have good or bad connection / hit recognition/ lag etc. games. What doesn't make sense is why occasional matches only some of us suffer with it.

People moaning about connections though but generally I find them alright, yes you get bad games but they aren't the norm. I find the community a lot more frustrating than the connections. Like how many games of domination we win by a stupid margin like 200-40 because the other team are too busy camping and head glitching to capture flags. Which to make it worse they usually go negative as well so aren't even good kill farmers. It just makes the game frustrating and boring to play.

I agree with what drift0r said in one of his problem videos, for whatever reason after about an hour or so the servers crap out and the game gets horrible.

Yeah, I have no idea what the hell is happening in those types of games, it's mind bending what is going on, what's even more strange is you can tell when "it" swings back and things work again and you start to melt people.

Problem is going for camos/dark matter people head glitch for headshots, then the secondary problem is people want a high KD/beast gameplays to upload to their 5 subscriber YouTube channels.

Sometimes at the start of games i get the countdown and it varies between 5 seconds and 15, I am assuming the 5 second countdowns are when you're on a dedicated server??

I genuinely think that there's an element of deliberacy behind this. I reckon that many of these issues that they "fix" are quick five minute fixes but they drag it out forever so that they can use them to appease us. It's much cheaper this way than hiring a full team to hammer away at issues. Simply hire one guy, let him fix all the easiest stuff and chill out, and blow his fixes up to epic proportions so that we think this is hardcore problem solving.
