Call of Duty 2015/Black Ops 3?

I agree with what drift0r said in one of his problem videos, for whatever reason after about an hour or so the servers crap out and the game gets horrible.

Yeah, I have no idea what the hell is happening in those types of games, it's mind bending what is going on, what's even more strange is you can tell when "it" swings back and things work again and you start to melt people.

Problem is going for camos/dark matter people head glitch for headshots, then the secondary problem is people want a high KD/beast gameplays to upload to their 5 subscriber YouTube channels.

I forgot to mention above but ties in to the first part of your post. The fact "it" seems to change mid game as well. It is rare but occasionally the two halves of domination can feel like different games. I can do really well in the first half, have a good number of captures a 3 or 4 k/d and be top of the team but by the end of match be negative and at the bottom.

Camo's is a good call but I doubt youtube, some of the kids you come across doing it have 0.X k/d's low SPM and constantly camp the same spots so doubt they have ever had a beast gameplay to upload to youtube :p

Sometimes at the start of games i get the countdown and it varies between 5 seconds and 15, I am assuming the 5 second countdowns are when you're on a dedicated server??

That has happened on CoD's for ages, I think it based on how quickly you connect to host.

I wonder if the game actively hobbles players to make games closer, hence you know when 'it' happens because you struggle to hit/kill anyone. I know on most of the TDM matches I play the scores are usually quite close. Lost count of the number of games that have run to a 1 point difference in score. I still get games where it is clearly stompage but not as many as I would expect considering the weird and wonderful matchmaking. A it suggests either the SBMM is on the right course, OR something else is going on to balance play.

I agree with the above posters. It is easy to tell when the game is with you and when it is against. I use an R1 and I am actually starting to think it is a bad idea due to how lag comp works in this game. I seem to have better results when turning off geofiltering because I seem to get more games where 'it' is with me and I do OK.

I think they should actually release details of how it all works so at least we can know WTF is happening in any given game!

@Fr0dders - it is lag compensation. There will be algorithms running in the background to help those players with flaky connections so what you see on your screen may be a few MS behind them in reality. It helps to combat their latency but the end result is they get a huge advantage. in the original Quake 3 engine it was called timenudge. However on dedicated servers it had no impact to anyone other than the client that was using it as the command used extrapolation algorithms to 'predict' where other clients/projectiles would be but the packet data was only sent from the server to the client using it, not to everyone else. The idea was give the impression to the client using it that they had 20ms less ping than they actually had (cl_timenudge -20 for example). Not sure how it works on a P2P system though but it could be part of the flaky hit reg and players clearly seeing other players first in replays but not whilst playing. I think any compensation system will be flawed particularly with such high ROF weapons vs low server refresh (tick) rate.

I've played 95% of my games on BO3 with my R1 off and I've had very few problem games.

There's been several games in that 5% though that were a bit crap at the start of the release.

This game seems to work ok on its own.

3 Games of Stronghold Domination in a row last night, started off quite well, then it just seemed like they had peoples all over the map blocking the lanes, so bloody frustrating. I think Redwood and Combine are my favorite maps, although Combine is one of the more overplayed.

I'd agree with that, I've only turned on host filtering a handful of times and that's usually when we constantly end up on a Euro dedicated server - most of the time it's fine.

Far more prevalent ar the ones where the game seems to play fine and isn't stuttering around but you just feel like nothing hits and people are seeing you before you see them.

I'm not going to pretend to understand it, but it's not lag.

It's the game engine delay. Couple that with general internet lag and it leaves players out of sync. That's what causes all the insta-deaths.

I guess the only chance we will see a new engine is with Sledgehammers next release. I doubt IW have written one.

We won't get one. It costs money to licence, or even build a totally new one, and as we know Activision don't like spending money.

It's hilarious watching the kill cams and see yourself being killed in 3 bullets. The hit detection of ghosts pees over this game, they must have lifted their code straight from blops2 and dumped it into this.

Treyarch hit detection has always been rubbish. It was rubbish in BO1 & BO2. There was a point when Treyarch was considering the lesser dev and IW the best but since IW split they've gone downhill and now Treyarch is suddenly the best.

I've only been playing the game a few weeks and suck massively but one thing that I have noticed and it's really annoying me:

When someone aims at me with either a shotgun or a sniper rifle, it instantly locks on me and boom, dead. Whereas assault rifles, subs, etc.. don't.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm doing Ok. If you are only getting this game now, of course you will be bad until you level up.

Once I got 5 attachments it got a lot better for me.

No hit detection (excuses) issues for me.

Define suck massively? Also is this your first FPS? CoD? Consoles FPS? Being new you will be at a disadvantage to the day 1 players as they will know maps better etc and have classes set up as they want while you still may be experimenting with which weapons you prefer. There are some tips that could help you improve but depends on your actual skill level and affinity with FPS's.

As for snipers and shotguns locking on, being a console there is a certain amount of auto aim for all the guns and different guns within the same class can have different amounts also. Snipers have seem to have nerfed a lot from previous CoD's as there isn't as many QSers as previously.

1st ever FPS game :) I have spent at least 100 hours since xmas on it, possibly more. My avg K/D is about 0.5 and mostly killed by a sniper or shotgun that seems to instantly aim on me. As soon as I aim, my gun is normally pointing north of their heads :D

I can't remember the k/d of my first venture into FPS's it was so long ago but 0.5 k/d doesn't sound too bad. I am better than average at FPS's but wouldn't go as far as to claim I am actually good. When I started Blops3 my k/d was only ~0.8-0.9 for the first week or two but slowly dragging it up and I am now low to mid 300's SPM and 1.5 k/d in TDM.

Initial tips I can think of is
- Keep playing. Sounds obvious but it easy to get disheartened if you aren't that good but time and practise should see you improve.
- Initially try to change as little as possible. So find a gun you like and stick to it until you have developed a good knowledge of the maps and where to expect players to be.
- Try to ensure you keep your aim level, most people tend to look down but you seem to be looking up. Ideally you want to keep your aim level so when you aim down sights (ADS) you will aiming at the torso.
- Avoid the middle of maps. Most of the maps roughly stick to the 3 lane design which means if you are in the middle you can get seen from a lot of direction and you simply cannot cover them all. Sticking to the outside will hopefully increase your changes of 1 on 1's.
- If you end up in 2 on 1 scenarios run away. It may sounds a little counter intuitive but it is hard to win 2 on 1 situations. For TDM the objective is really get as many kills as possible for as few deaths as possible. The best you can usually hope for in a 2 on 1 is you kill one of them while the other kills you which is no net gain for your team. If you run away and get them seperated and face them as two 1 on 1's then have the change of a +2 gain for your team.
- Test out different sensitivity for your aim. Higher is better for being able to turn and look quickly but has obvious negatives of it is harder to be accurate. With low sensitivity being the opposite.
- Aim before you ADS. You will do better by moving to target then ADS than ADS then moving to target.
- Finally, just play some more. No amount of youtube or tips and tricks will make up for practise.

About all I can think of off the top of my head but I am sure someone will point out some other tips too.

The biggest tip I can give is to take it slow. Don't go rushing about thinking you're Rambo, that'll only get you killed (I'm guilty as sin of this too, especially after playing a couple of hours). Hang back, let the bad guys come to you.

Also, pay very good attention to your team. Note where they're going and try stick with them, unless you have a sneaky sneaky class on for flanking. That way if a team mate dies in front of you, it's an instant flag to be alert. People underestimate the power of team mates, most of the community in this game are blithering retards so use them to your advantage.
