*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

I guess its down to everyones own individual taste.

I just wish they would give us some customisation options so that everyone is happy.

Conversely I love the UI of the PS4, couldn't stand the Xbox's at all.

I hope any changes that are made in the future are minor.

Each to their own.. I've seen the x1 new dash and its a mess IMO , but then the 360 dash was horrendously poor IMO, I preferred the xmb from ps3. Ps4 dash is ok,but I really do what some folders like the xmb had...

Anyvhow, tearaway. Wow shame that didn't sell well. Wrong audience I guess. Me and my little girl have been playing this.. Amazing use of the controller.. We loved it.

Also , been messing about with Samsung gear vr. Got one from work, loan. Pretty good actually. Hope is high for psvr now..

XB1 UI is so much neater now. PS4 is pretty horrible. Great console but crap interface.

The UI alone actually makes me consider going back to team Xbox, as like I say I found the 360 one an absolute joy to use.

I think the PS4 one is poorly structured and absolutely fugly.

Stem ui is poor, uplay is poor, 360 dash was not great IMO but I've used and ignored them all to just as I can play the games...

IMO yeah all of them need improvements but they are designed it launch media and games , and they do this do not a lot can be done other then provide feedback and hope for the best... It's not like you use them like an actual PC.

I spend just seconds on the dash, it's hardly a game changer for most I would say. Strange to base your choice of console on the accessibility of its UI. It's not mac vs windows! :p

Haha true, it just ruins the mood for me as every time I turn the PS4 on and see that dash I'm just like "urghhhh "

oh and btw, Mac is superior :D

And that is about the truth of it really. I didn't like the look much of any of the 360 dashboards but didn't stop me playing mass effect (as it was at the time a 360 exclusive), forza games and a few others i used the system for..

Stream on the PC isn't great - big picture mode needs a lot more work, but doesn't stop you from launching games..

The 360 dash was atrocious, it was so slow to get around because of all the slow swooshy animations/sounds and it was covered with ads on every page.

Everyone likes different things though, I don't remember the 360 dash been slow to be honest. I still much preferred it even if it was.

Surely it can't be that hard for PS or Xbox to include some degree of customisation with their consoles? Suuuuuuuurely.

I think that the PS3 cross media bar is still the best console UI to this day. The PS4 UI, whilst still quite good imo, is more cluttered than it needs to be and detracts from the plain simplicity that made the cross media bar interface good in the first place. Not a big fan of the Xbox's UI tbh.

Never used/owned the PS3 tbh so cannot comment on it.

How much time do you people spend on the menu's?.

Quite a lot, Im an enthusiast.

Just spent the night on GTA 5 listening to someone read a novel by John Connolly "The Caxton Lending Library & Book Depository" strange but true

Personally I think the UI on the PS4 beats the Xbone hands down - only thing that the PS4's could use is the pinning system from the Xbone.

I wasn't stoked on the pre-update UI, and I like the latest one even less - it feels a chore to use, and is no way intuitive for me. I guess it stems from the desire to be a 'multimedia hub'.

Each to their own and all that though.

Yeah I wish I could pin my most frequently used apps and such like to the beginning of the UI for quick access, such as Amazon Prime and Netflix.

If you don't use an app for a while too it seems to totally disappear from the main list and you have to search for it?

Yeah, I gotta agree that the PS3 Crossbar was the best UI from last gen. This gen... well I don't own an XB1, but I gotta say that the Quick Launch menu from the WiiU Gamepad just let's me get into a game with as little fuss as possible. No need to get into the menu and it's damn fast, I love it.

I think that game has local multiplayer if I remember correctly. Recommendation as a PS4 exclusive? It's difficult to find decent games that have local multiplayer on PS4, even with Co-optimus. If so, where's the cheapest I can grab a copy? Being broke and unable to get a job doesn't make life any easier.
