RIP. Can't say I grew up or liked his music as a teen but he's fantastic and I certainly listen to most of his tracks regularly.

One of if not the first film I have a memory of (and my ~7 year old self didn't at all have a thing for Jennifer Connelly) - not a big fan of the middle section that most people love but at a young age was impressed by the concept and the escher-esque scene near the end.

Same Im a big placebo fan but funny thing is the 1st single I brought myself was bowies Let Dance. Cant say I am a massive fan of all his music but I do like some of it a lot.
Placebo were big fans of bowie but unbeknown to them he was a fan of thiers and he found out they were in New York at the same time and phoned thier management team as he really wanted to do something with them. The above was the result. This song Is one of my all time favorites due to personel reasons and I do like this version the best.

I forgot he was in that! Great movie. Sad news, clearly a visionary.
I think he had something for everyone - I'm not a fan of a lot of his music but there are some tunes of his that I really like.

R.I.P,Another sad day,first single i bought with my own money,Starman,when i was 17.
Never a fan, didn't hit me in anyway really and seemed to be surrounded by people who were his biggest fans all day, though suspect none of his music was in many of their collections. Having said all that still sad to hear as there is no question of the importance of his body of work and he was too young to die so respect where it's due.

This clip is doing the rounds at the minute, his Paxman interview in 2000 where he is just absolutely on point predicting the impact the internet will have, not only on society as a whole, but to music in particular. I think it's brilliant.
Bowie: "I like to see what the new construction is between artist and audience. There is a breakdown, personified by the rave culture.... where the audience is at least as important as whoever is playing at the rave. It's almost like the artist is to accompany the audience and what the audience are doing, and that feeling is very much permeating music, and permeating the internet."
