***The Official OcUK Lego Thread***

Hmm the post woman come with a surprise package for me today, wasn't expecting these until next week since saying 5 days delivery time and it was shipped Tuesday. To bad I be working the next 4 days though, so wont be much building now. :( :p

I blame this entirely on you all in this thread though, tempting me with your creations. :p

Nice haul! I'm probably going to end up with the same sets (already got the Pet Shop) but am just gonna pace myself... expensive sets and all :p

Yeah, might went a bit overboard ordering them all at the same time. :o Loved building Lego when was younger and brings back memories so thought I go bit wild. Been about 30yrs since I built anything though !

Did they come in one giant box or lots of individual packages?

2 boxes, one of the large and the Wall-E in one box, then the other 3 in a second one. Wasn't expecting the others to be quiet that big though ! Although they between 2,000 and 2,500 pcs I still thought they be a bit smaller boxed. :p

I think the larger sets just have thicker boxes.

I know you're talking about packaging, but they really need to downsize pretty much all the boxes for the larger kits. I know they're going for shelf presence, but there's pretty much always 50-75% of the box that is air space. Would make shipping and storage a lot easier! Would save them money all round as well!

Agreed!

Mercedes Truck should arrive tomorrow. I expect a huge box (not seen it on display in any local shops).

I said this would by my last Technic, but I want a plane. The Fire Plane (42040) is 47 Euros (Cargo Plane and Heavy Lift Helicopter are too expensive!!)

Anyone built it and can recommend it (or not) ?

The Cargo Plane keeps dipping to about £60, but I always miss it when it does.

Edit: The Fire Plane is ~£31 and the 24 Hours Car is ~£59 at Amazon Germany at the moment!

Just finsihed Wall-E, cut little bugger, it's standing next to me and watching me type away, probally end up pinching me later with his claws. :p

For fun I just opened two of the boxes, the one with least and most amount of pieces. The Pet Shop (10218) has 2032pcs and the box is 58cm x 47cm x 8.5cm, could easily been half that size really. The Parisian Restaurant (20243) has 2469 pieces and the box slightly smaller, at 58cm x 37cm x 9.5cm and could been 1/3 smaller box. If shaking them and making sure all bits if better packed could probally save bit more space in both boxes as well. Luckily with buying directly from LEGO over a certain amount it is free shipping but if buying 2nd hand from the likes of BrickLink and it's boxed then it be bit wast of extra shipping cost though.

Sandcrawlers, tumblers, xwings, bwings, trains, wall-e's! I'd buy them and just replace the required parts if they are indeed missing/faulty!! :(

What they really should do is have a seperate LEGO site, which clearly explains boxes are in bad shape, might be missing pcs etc and have heafty dissount on them. I'm sure people wouldn't mind buying and then source missing pcs elsewhere as KiNgPiN83 is willing to do. :)

The thing is i'm not interested in buying to sell. I want to buy and build the models and place them around my man cave. :) Then one day, pass it all on to my son with the proviso that he doesnt just flog the lot.

Bugger, it would appear i dont have the falcon. :(:(

Doggy listing on ebay, unable to contact seller on any level and having to claim back via ebay/paypal.

Perhaps it's meant to be, or for the best.

Unless you got a great deal on it and absolutely have to have that Falcon, I don't think it is a good investment and certainly not value for money. If you want pure investment, go spend the same money on multiple sets of the Tie Tighter/ Sandcrawler/ Slave 1 and wait it out.

Or simply use the same cash to buy all the current UCS Star Wars Lego above, plus perhaps a few retired sets like Imperial Shuttle (£450), R2D2 (£250), and then the entire Lego Modular buildings. It should keep you busy for a while, and will be worth more together later on too.

I didn't mean that either. Meant like you, me and others, we would be interested to buying these sets that LEGO is discharging due to people returning them for one reason or another, then sourcing any missing pieces ourselfs if needed. That way we can get more LEGO to build and pass on to own kids or relatives, but it would better on our wallets, and LEGO will still earn money, even if not as much as selling for full price, but better then throwing it all away.

Obviously there would also be others buying them to flog them and earn some coins themselfs but that happens with brand new sets as well, just have to go back and reading through this thread how some users has bought 2 of a set, one to build and the other one to keep and sell on later when value has increased.

:( That shucks, hopefully you have your money back soon and can look for another one elsewhere.

Its not a case of an investment more of a case I really want it.

I know they go for stupid money but I have some free cash and instead of wasting it on naff/gambling it away (I do like to have a gamble) want to get something for one I really would like.

The search continues.
