After a bit of banter with some other work colleagues we all entered the work LEJOG, long story short out of 7 I was the only one to get a place. Now bricking it a little, it's with Delliotes and its in September. Anyone done this?

From what I've heard/read, the Deloitte one is massively supported, so should be no bother.

A proper front light for the road is my next bike related purchase I think. Problem is I feel that I need the output that I currently have from my Solarstorm for the country lanes but I agree that it is a bit of a Bobbie dazzler.

I noticed the other day on CRC (I think) that they have labelled a lot of their lights as not suitable for use in Germany. I know why now.

Looks like a good option. It does throw me a bit that they use lux as opposed to lumens but my minute knowledge of the subject leads me to believe that lux is a more useful measurement anyway?

I have a B + M ixon IQ which is around 50 lux i think.

It's miles better than the UK made lights i've used which are generally just an LED bulb blowing light everywhere - you get a concentrated beam pattern that really works. Sadly mine has an external battery but i believe you can get some with an integrated battery. Because it uses light way more efficiently the battery does last ages.

The UK manufacturers really should make some front lights with proper beam patterns, but none do, even the £200+ exposure lights have the same problem. The amount of lumens some bike lights put out now is nuts, it's more than you get from car lights but more dazzling due to the smaller size.

I had selective reading that day I read. "9 days cycling, 5 days paid time of work" ignored the rest.
The small print is I need to make a £200 donation
Get to the start and home from the end. Should be good but already dreading the thought of a week of rain and the A82.

I picked one that was in stock... saying that the endurace isn't out for delivery yet, I ordered it a couple of days ago and it said delivery 1st Feb, so not bad. Will see when it arrives mind...

On the site, check out the size you need and then it'll show you the delivery time.

The Aeroad should be here tomorrow along with the Grand Canyon 9.9 and then 1st Feb for the Endurace, I hope...

My wife's Roadlite isn't coming until April mind

So's the wife! Trouble is, the communication is so damn bad, you have to just suck it up...

My wife doesn't know I have 3 bikes turning up for me... I'm going to be living in the basement, if I'm lucky.

Old boy up the street brought my PlanetX order round that came yesterday while I was working away. Bucketing it down with snow and he says "Sorry I didn't bring it round earlier"! Bless him! Quite a haul for not much cash after picking my way through the liquidation sale. I missed out on a couple of bits that sold out while I was putting my basket together :( Oh well, bagged some bargains so I'm happy.

All set for summer now after picking up another set of bibs and a jersey. Might be some time before they are used but the gloves will come in handy!

Just had my UPS tracking number from Canyon for the peach...

Oh, and hopefully this should arrive next week too:

Just an Endurace AL 6.0, 105 Groupset, but the frame is supposed to be much more comfortable/ less race position. So I might put the Bianchi on the trainer full time, then use these two day to day.

Little excited... clearing the basement out this weekend ready to start the setup

I've got the Endurance Cf 9.0 SL and its a wonderful bike.

oh man it's getting cold, how many layers are you guys wearing in this weather?

I've got on a dhb merino wool base layer, thin running top and then a gabba cycling top. The gabba is really tight though so it's hard to wear much more under it.

Looks likely I'll be on the turbo for the next few days as it looks bloody icy out there.

I don't cycle in frost or ice as its stupid, no matter what arguments you put in front of me.

most of these manufacturers have just lifted products from their MTB night riding ranges and started flogging them to roadies, that kind of light is dead useful on an MTB where you need to know about branches at eye level etc etc

Lux is a function of lumens applied to a certain area, 1 lux is 1 lumen/metre squared.

since the beam is much more tightly focused, you can get a useful light patch that's as bright as something with an unfocused beam for a much lower lumen level.

Nice! Can't wait to see what this one is like. Apparently the endurace is out for delivery today too... so that's 3 bikes turning up. I told my wife we had 2 coming, to which I got an ear full about, so 3 might send her over the edge. Oops.

Tell her they messed up the order. Leave one in the box for a month while you're "trying to get them to collect it". Show her all the articles about problems with delivery at canyon. Eventually they will "forget to arrange the collection"

My neighbour did last year, think it was more of a relay effort as only a couple of riders did the complete distance. He spent most of his rides towing one or another of them.
aye, it says about the end of April, I was hoping they were just being pessimistic :)

Take the leadtimes with a pinch of salt and make sure you read up about the problems they're having! :)

Gotta agree with you here as I took it easy/careful for 99% of my commute. Then wiped out in the last 20 feet before the office at around 3mph! Bike is fine but hole in my tights and elbow. Jersey is fine weirdly! Ouch! :(

lux/lumen are both closely linked, just don't get candlepower/cd mixed up with them. I bought this 1000cd light and it wasn't brighter than 100 lumen!

Cold this morning, frost with some patches of ice at the sides!

Hopefully not a sign of things to come.

My Mrs is insistent I don't ride when it's frosty. I don't really need much persuading.

Can confirm frostiness this morning. Most of the road ice had melted (pavements looked deadly though) but I got caught out on a random patch of black ice on a curve and down I went. Got a nice bit of road rash on my calf/thigh and a scuffed elbow. I got a nice bit of sliding distance too as I went.

Oh well, just had to bash my right hood straight and off I went. I was more concerned with looking a plonker.

The daft thing was I was seriously considering driving in this morning but at the last minute decided to man up and get on with it.
