Spec me some wintery boots!

Got a pair of Caterpillars from Amazon Warehouse for under £40 last year which looked brand new. Do normally last me a few years, but I accidentally set this pair alight heh and burned half my beard and right eyebrow off in the same incident :o
 
Caterpillar Colorado's are very comfy and cheap.. I bought some for the same reason.

No idea on those specifically but they are probably more flexible than the image suggests and will wear in after a few days - those look like they'd probably be ok but I've tried similar that had horribly thin/rigid soles that transferred every impact with the ground directly and while lined with fur-a-like material were not at all warm.

Problem is unless you live in aberdeenshire it's just not cold enough to justify a proper pair of winter/insulated boots.

I bought a pair of North Face insulated slip on shoes about 10 years ago. They still look almost brand new as they are just too hot to wear unless it's around or below 0. I wore them a few days a year if that.

A decent pair of leather fashion boots (like the cat/timberland/HH boots) is all you need. Get a slightly thicker pair of socks when it's particularly cold if you need it. :)

Mine got a fair bit of use 2008-2011 (in the UK) though they've mostly been in the back of the wardrobe 2012 through to now. Personally I like to have a decent pair of boots for that kind of weather even if they don't get used much.
 
I just find unless you are out all day in very cold (-10 and below) temperatures it's just not worth it. I'm fine in my Berthed 3 Helly Hansens and reasonable socks for trips around the city and general about town ness and it's regularly below -10 here. I went snow shoeing in -5 the other day in a standard pair of walking boots and some mid weight socks.

If on the other hand I was a farmer/forestry/rig/construction worker out all day in -10 and below I'd definitely be looking for something like a Baffin or Sorel boot. Otherwise I just get smelly feet from sweaty feet. :p
