Oh, I forgot my jeans today, so I'm sat at work in full lycra. Provided many laughs to people. Which is nice.
Normally I leave clothes in work to get changed into...
This. I try and only exchange work trousers by taking 'new' with me before returning 'old' so hopefully never arrive at work without trousers there (although it'll happen at some point) lol ;)

I normally do, but they'd been there a while and needed washing :p I should have done that and thought I had left a new clean pair here. Unless the cleaners gone off with them ha

Looked second hand? How about some chinese carbon?

There's not really much choice, AFAIK only Cannondale use 25.4mm seatposts and other than that you find it on BMXs and some older road bikes. None of the Chinese carbon sellers do a 25.4mm although there are some cheap alloy ones. Good suggestion though. :(

Suggestions for a thicker windproof jersey which has pit vents (similar to my Windslam Blade)? Don't want to spend over £50-60 on one as it'll mostly be for commuting. Anything DHB 'Windslam' now are all roubaix (want it slightly thicker) and don't have vents. I think I'm bordering on softshell territory...?

Edit: going to try one of these DHB Blok Micro Softshell Windslam Roubaix in the hope it's thicker than the other roubaix I have as the shoes I want (Sidi Kaos Yellow) are in stock in my size with 30% off! (first time my size in stock & on sale for 3 months)! :D

You could just wear an extra base layer underneath? I wear a merino base layer which does a great job of keeping the chill off.

This one?

I'm kinda hoping the Softshell Windslam Roubaix is thicker than the straight Roubaix I already own, as without wind protection at the moment it's not warm enough compared to my Windslam Blade. Once temps rise a little it's perfect (when the Blade is too warm!).

Long sleeve base layer could be an option, although I tend to keep mine short sleeved due to bunching problems (short arms).

I've worn arm warmers under it before but that's almost too much!

Lol not me... Yet! :p

Was it really that cold in RP/London though? Up here (West-Midlands - although I hate saying that, as I'm more 'The Marches' (Wales border) than real west-mids) although the temperatures were 1-2 degrees the windchill was -2 and -3 so things didn't really reach over zero... I had frost form on my face buff/gloves on descents even though ice wasn't quite forming on the roads - the ice also wasn't clearing from any roadside puddles/floods.

My Garmin had it at 2.7C, not really sure that accurately takes into account windchill but I certainly felt the cold. Also, I really shouldn't have cycled as my quad felt a little odd before and later that evening I could only climb stairs on my left leg! All seems to be fine now though...

Were the Treble IIs no good?

I've been tempted to jump into road shoe territory but really can't be bothered with the faff of finding shoes that fit again. I was tempted by Mavic Ksyrium Elites as they should fit similar to my Mavic MTB shoes but they're out of my size in black .... white will require too much maintenance!

The Treble II's are good but I mainly got them for commuting/day-to-day, the Kaos' will be for summer/'weekend best'! Didn't think using bright yellow shoes in miserable muddy winter conditions was the best idea! ;) The mavic's are a good shoe, they were on my list - the Giro's won as they can fit SPD's if I go back to them for some reason...! What are you riding with now?

I've not switched to SPD-SL pedals yet. I was tempted to wait until the days are longer and I do more social riding - although I will probably try them on the Turbo first for a few rides to get them setup correctly! :D

Try resting your quad for a bit - it could just be a slightly torn/tired muscle which needs time to heal rather than constantly trying to 'recover' from riding? You could look for some basic stretches/exercises to focus building some additional strength/stamina with it.

I have this in blue: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-asv-windslam-roubaix-long-sleeve-jersey/

It's fantastic, and have used it without a base layer when it was 3 degrees and kept me suitably warm for my liking. I paid £55 for it I think some months back now at £42 is a steal!

LS base layer + http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-aeron-roubaix-long-sleeve-jersey/ is my favourite for commuting at the moment, 10-4 degrees has been more than fine. The windslam I use for club rides as it's my more fancier jersey ;).

Mavic Rush MTB Shoe
Got these at the moment. Only shoe I found that vaguely fit well after about 20 pairs tried.

Honestly I don't seem to feel the issue at all now. You're likely right but I was hoping to ride tonight to take advantage of the fact all my teammates are on a US holiday... You can say I told you so if I'm complaining about it after :D I've been trying to keep cadence higher recently anyway so should be less pressure. (94 avg on Saturday).

The ASV was going to be my next port of call after the softshell windslam. Which LS bases are you using? I find most are rediculously overpriced for a base I'm probably only going to wear in winter. £30 on a base, I'm better to buy thicker jerseys for £37 and continue with my bases I wear for spring & autumn!?

As you went through that many I'd say to stick to Mavic's - you should find most are a similar fit from them!

Good work on the cadence, it's hard to work on away from the turbo! ;)

I must say DHB make some quite good looking clothing nowadays! Still got a lot of shockers, but a lot of their stuff is very good compared to some other brands.

I've just successfully repaired my faulty Fibre Flare. It's surprisingly simple inside but badly made, so I'd encourage anyone with a faulting light to open it up. One of the LEDs had gone dead but it was because one of the solder connections wasn't actually properly soldered. It just needed this doing and it's now good as new. You'll need a pair of pointy tweezers to push the securing pins out and it basically then slides apart. There's nothing in there that can go wrong, really, so I think a lot of faulting ones are just down to poor assembly. My old one had done the same.

I'm quite tempted to solder in some ultra bright LEDs just for the LOLs :D

I went for that Elite trainer from Halfords:

Think I might need to play with the settings. Just about killed my self in 6 minutes! https://www.strava.com/activities/473170124

I think that is a fair price since it is so new and has newer/good wheels on it. I bought a Nirone 7 with Campag Xenon as a winter bike the other month for £300 odd (approx 420-430 EURO), a lot more mileage and older than yours so I think around the £450ish mark for your Bianchi is reasonable and should sell fairly quickly at that depending on interest in your area :)

Just seen this, thanks mate
