The co2 stuff any good? It seems like a good in case of emergency type fix, but not used them.

I normally carry a spare tube, levers and small pump

One negative is that you need to kinda let the CO2 out the tyre and re-inflate with air after you get home because the CO2 leaks though the innertube a lot faster then air so the tyre will be almost flat by the next day.

So are those Bianchi's cheap because they are ex tour bikes or do they carry a "ridden by the pro's" tax?

That does look mint though. I'd expect most professionally used bikes to be mechanically spot on but cosmetically a little rough.

£2.5 K for that one he chopped in his old bike and got a grand so it cost £1.5 k for the bike.

Thats a lot of bike for the money

True but not all of them come from there and some are spares only so never ridden.

Very sexy and I suppose its a bit of history and would hold its value ?

I couldn't recall which carbon rims you had.

Unless it was a winners bike of a big event I'd imagine it only reduces the value! (Sorry!)

Ex pro bike will be well maintained but they don't really treat them kindly when riding, and no warranty etc

I've not been on the bike in like ten days now... Between the snow and freezing cold and my bad knee and wrist. This sucks. It's meant to warm up at the end of the week... And the wind is supposed to pick up again. Rubbish.

Took the aeroad out to work this morning... it's such a machine. My god. Though, my garmin died just after starting and I didn't notice and it was -8c out there with so much ground ice that the zipps and full slicks meant I was pussy footing the whole way in.

The Aeroad is a lovely bike. I've always liked Canyons but that is the pick of them.

My Supersix frame is still sat in the box as I ordered the wrong size BB and still need to track down a 25.4mm seatpost. There seem to be very limited options apart from cheapo alloy ones and then expensive offerings from FSA/3T/Enve. Mildly annoying, and the cheap ones have those crap one bolt tilt adjustments but probably going to have to put up with it as I can't stomach an £80 seatpost.

It's just so light! I might have to get some winter wheels though, or something like that, as the zipps are a handful in this wind!

Putting my Bianchi up for sale (not for sale here, before I get told off), I have changed out the standard crap wheels for Campag Zondas, but it's a Sora Via Nirone 7, 1k mileage since Aug... Think 650EUR is OK for it? Or asking too much?

You'll get used to dealing with the wind tbh. To start with it's really alarming but after a while you completely adjust to dealing with the gusts/etc on deep dish rims.

Yep, I only ever notice it on those days where the gusts are really unpredictable and even then you don't get blown all over the road, just a bit of a nudge.

Did you get your P2M working OK? That Strava comment made me laugh out loud by the way, had to explain myself to the missus. :D

Potato pic...

Vectors now on, saddle adjusted. Wife giving me ear.

The Di2 is so damn sexy. Whole thing is.

Looks damn good mate, good choice of saddle too (love my Arione!). She's only moaning because she's not done a good turbo session! :D

Without knowing how your property is constructed this is only an educated guess but I'd say unless your definition of "alright" is your downstairs neighbours listening to a dull vibration above their heads then you are out of luck.

I've got a basic CycleOps Mag trainer but in my garage that is separate from the house with its solid concrete floor, a rubber mat and the door shut... my wife can still hear it in certain rooms in the house!

Agreed, mine in the conservatory with the other half in the lounge (separated by double glazed french doors) on a piece of carpet... She has the TV on 14 (we normally have it on 8) and gets unhappy if I'm much more than an hour... My turbo is a Road Machine II, one of the quieter fluid trainers.

Just got back in from a friendship-destroying ride. My friend's girlfriend let me choose a hilly route. I kind of overdid it without thinking about it and broke her. She seems cross

Rotor looks awesome, hope you cleaned the BB more than the rest of the frame before fitting! ;)

Lol @ friendship-destroying, you'll have to do a damn good BBQ to make it up to her!

Go with the roady option - carry a couple of spare chains, maybe a new cassette as well, and you never know with chainrings.. ;)

Ha! I'm not that bad... Although carry chain tool, a length of chain (6 links?) and 3-4 split links! :p

So, got my first puncture on my last ride.

Do you guys carry spare tubes/pump on most rides?

Yes, 2 spare tubes in saddlebag 99% of the time. Always carry that when riding and always got my pump attached to my frame... Had considered dropping a tube but when riding with some mates after work invariably I'm the only one with tubes & pump...!

:D

I think I'm going to get a combo co2 mini pump.

I've been tempted to get a combo and try this co2 stuff too... I've had to pump up 6 tyres at the roadside in around 4500 miles (in 2 years) so not that convinced on the time it'll save me. Although only 2 of those have been in wet/miserable conditions...

It actually snowed here..

Did you actually have to cover your legs and wear sleeves? How did you survive? :o

Also mate bought the below , EX pros bike from 2013 Paris/Roubaix which was ridden once and then hung up in a museum in Italy. Very tempted to get one myself thoughts ?

Sounds like an awesome way to get some pro level kit... What were the prices like?

Mmmm It's sexy though.

Said he who's selling his Bianchi's and replacing with Canyons? ;):p

Had a friend go on holiday to Lanzarote, over here he rides a ~£300 cheapy GT road bike and struggles to do much more than 20 miles with any elevation... Sure enough they hired bikes over there and he ended up on one of these... Sure enough he loved it! Hire place said it was new and had only been out '6 times', yet offered it to him for €1400 which seemed an absolute steal! Quite impressed with him as he got out for 2 big rides on consecutive days - will have to drag him out for some social rides! :D

I think that is a fair price since it is so new and has newer/good wheels on it. I bought a Nirone 7 with Campag Xenon as a winter bike the other month for £300 odd (approx 420-430 EURO), a lot more mileage and older than yours so I think around the £450ish mark for your Bianchi is reasonable and should sell fairly quickly at that depending on interest in your area :)

It's -8c at 8am, but I don't want to miss going out :p

Several local guys went out for the shop ride on saturday - think there were 7 of them... 4 falls and 4 punctures (one guy doubled!) so pretty glad I skipped that one! One guy even wore shorts?! :o

I headed out Saturday afternoon and rode to the parents in around 0 degrees. Totally kitted up and only really felt the cold when stopped, got wet on the way out so didn't fully warm up either! I was totally out of power/energy by mile 23 (and had the ToB KOM climb at the end to my parents)... Boshed my Haribo and a gel, I got up the climb but wasn't breaking any records for the whole ride. Think it was conditions and a little fatigue as commuted all week, although quite disappointed in my stamina. How should I work on that?

I had to stop earlier in the ride after this climb as the amount of crap on the road was so bad that my rear brakes were rubbing. I changed my pads earlier in the week (new Coolstop Salmon) and with the gritty-grey-road-gravy rubbish on my rim I fear they've already taken a hammering and quite worn already. Not much I can do due to tight guard clearance? Use harder pads?

I've not been on the bike in like ten days now...

Give it a couple more to heal up and the icy cold weather will be gone mate! :)

probably going to have to put up with it as I can't stomach an £80 seatpost.

Looked second hand? How about some chinese carbon?

If there was an easy way to get the Zondas over here I'd have them off you mate! ;)

Is that you? :p

There were loads of nutters out wearing shorts and short sleeves on Saturday in Richmond Park. I was absolutely freezing... should have worn a windbreaker layer instead of just a roubaix fleece lined jersey.

I don't find that my legs ever feel cold tbh? the skin around the knees goes blue after a cold commute but other than that no actual pain/discomfort? weird! but my upper body gets cold of course so I normally stick with baselayer + long sleeve jersey and that keeps me VERY warm, gloves IMO is the main bit.

Lol not me... Yet! :p

Was it really that cold in RP/London though? Up here (West-Midlands - although I hate saying that, as I'm more 'The Marches' (Wales border) than real west-mids) although the temperatures were 1-2 degrees the windchill was -2 and -3 so things didn't really reach over zero... I had frost form on my face buff/gloves on descents even though ice wasn't quite forming on the roads - the ice also wasn't clearing from any roadside puddles/floods.

I'd be concerned over the blue knees and no pain! :p

Guess I just feel the cold more than some of you, although I run warm in the spring/summer/autumn I really seem to feel it in the winter. Saturday I wore:
  • roubaix shorts (Sportful Fiandre Norain)
  • leg warmers (Sportful Norain)
  • roubaix tights (DHB Vaeon unpadded)
  • base layer (Sportful thermoflex)
  • ss jersey (Northwave logo)
  • Windslam thermal jersey (DHB windslam blade, thicker than roubaix)
  • wind/rain protection gilet (DHB whisp)
And I wasn't 'hot' even after a couple of the climbs... Wore skullcap & cotton cap under my helmet with a buff covering my face too!

EDIT: Plotted myself a 'Sportive' from where I used to work... Maybe a challenge for in a couple of years time? ;)

EDIT2: Although this would be much more achievable this year, a tour of the Elan valley dams :)
