Maus made with Lego ;D

A guy on the eurobricks forum is claiming the "Ultimate IP Car" kit will be a Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Would be a definite buy if it is, although would've preferred a Mclaren P1 or LaFerrari.

Ooooo. Cool.

Google suggests a €300 price tag, which would make it around ~£250, which is bloody expensive for a Technic kit!

Edit: According to the Bricklink database, that would make it the most expensive Technic set by quite some way! The most expensive set up to now is the current Volvo and Mercedes models at £169.

Yeah, hoping they go to Sheepo levels with the detail, like fully working gearbox, etc.

~£250 is pretty steep! That would make it 2.5x the price of the 24 Hours Race car, which is a pretty large and detailed model. Its almost £100 more than the current flagship models of the Volvo and Mercedes.

The more I think about it the less confident I am about that €300 rumor being true. I just can't see them making such a massive leap with a Technic set. It would need to be seriously large, complicated, and automated to be able to justify that price. Unless of course its just a massively inflated price due to the license of the model.

Lets see...

Well they are charging £230 for the Batcave, so it's not so ridiculous :p

At that price no doubt it will be motorized out of the box, I wonder if it will be a fully RC Technic car on the scale of the 24 Hour Racer, or larger?

Licencing gotta licence.

bags 1 and 2 of the crawler crane now finished

and the crane truck turned up ready to build as well

Finally got one as new. Expensive but the the only option was to pay up or buy a full kit for £50-55 and it was a poor set he came in.

Only need a couple more from the marvel range now.

'Normal' Lego sets have gone as high as £350 RRP before, but from what I can tell the most expensive Technic set ever was £169. Releasing a Technic model around £250 is a serious jump for that theme. And considering what the Volvo and Mercedes kits have for £169, jumping up another 50% better come with some pretty serious bells and whistles!

Is there anything more concrete than the random made up rumours going around? The Mercedes F1 rumour seems to have come from one guy who's argument is "they have made a Mercedes printed logo tile so I think this new car will be a Mercedes", and the Porsche rumours seem to stem from someone just listing the set number next to a picture of a 918, with zero explaination.

No, not really.

Obviously LEGO already have a licensing relationship with Mercedes, so its not a major step, but nothing solid on it. The Porsche was rumoured very early and just recently someone claims to have seen the production list with the Porsche 911 GT3 RS as the secret kit, but would appear he's not a "known" member.

TBH, I just like an epic lego in vehicle form. Something Millennium Falcon kind of scale would be just the ticket. For it to be technics would mean it would have more than just looks to it. Steering, suspension, engine and hopefully, a working gearbox, even just 4 gears would be cool.

I like the sound of a "UCS" Technic set. But it would have to be much bigger than the 24 hour racer for the rumoured price tag. Full electric set (not interested in the car moving) operating the doors, boot, bonnet and full engine/gearbox movement and a proper steering system (full seat adjustment would be appreciated as well) would have to be standard build for me.

But at the moment its all rumours, I'll wait until its confirmed by LEGO.
